Hypothetically speaking of course, if I "ripped" some of my CDs to WMA format and now I want to change that to Mp3. Are there any converters out there that could help me get around the DRM encryption? In this hypothetical I am not willing to re-rip my CD in Mp3 format or re-rip with DRM protection off. So I need a software solution...other than unf@@k.exe

I don't know if any software does this, but I am pretty sure that the resulting files will not sound very good. The reason is that MP3 and WMA are both lossy (as opposed to lossless) forms of compression.

why ? morally it's no different than if you re-rip in MP3. if you truly own the disks your making the rips from then most courts in the U.S. will allow you to make a backup copy . just bite the bullet and re-rip in the desired format.
