Jesus christ man, i know Natalie Portman looks good in that movie, but that's no reason to... make your subwoofer do things... ugh that's just wrong.

On the subject of sound. When Jango Fett releases those sonic bombs or whatever they are called in they plantery rings, does all the soundtrack go completely silent just before they go off or is my dvd player missing something.

No that's supposed to happen.

Yeah, it's supposed to do that. Kinda cool, huh? When I went to watch it in the theater, I thought the damn sound had skipped or something, old Japanese movie style.

My theory is that they did that on purpose. Giving your ears just enough time to adjust for the silence so that it would sound louder/ add more of a shock/ooo ahhh effect.

8 or 10? bleh, that's crap, get a nice 15" sub.

Wurd. To move air takes two things: power and displacement. You need inches to make bass. I have a Cerwin Vega 15" ported HT sub with a 200W amp. Not a lot of watts for a 15" sub, but the cabinet is perfectly matched to the sub. It will readjust your clothing at high volumes.

yeah, AotC hits your LFE pretty hard, but have you listened to LoTR at the same levels? I think that in certain cases, LoTR will tax your sub more than SW does.

<---Still building his 15" sub. Anybody in Michigan know where I can easily get some sonotube?

Why limit yourself? Go for dual 18"!!

We use Peavey subs (dual 18") for our band audio setups at college - my roommate tried to bring one into the apt last year to hook into the home theater setup... bad idea... wouldn't you know - those subs weren't shielded?? Poor TV just didn't look right after that....

ported? bleh, a nice sealed 15" at ~600W should readjust your bowels when done right

Seriously, if anyone is interested in getting a real sub, go to SVS. These guys post all the time on the Home Theater Forum, their subs (and customer support) are awesome.
