Woah! There are talks of mid-engine layout, SH-AWD, with a 330hp gas engine coupled with an electric to produce about 400hp, 9-speed dual-clutch tranny. This will be something to behold.

Honda is all talk no game. This sounds like the NSX more than anything, and I'll only believe it when I can buy one.

"Total system output is expected to be 400 horsepower or better.......The target price for the Honda brand’s halo sports car is less than $100,000"

The Corvette and Cayman S will $**7 all over this thing.

Uuuhhhhh... for that price I'd rather have a Cayman even if the Honda is a hair faster. The fit and finish will be superior and in a small roadster I kinda prefer a "purer" driving experience with a manual transmission rather than a bunch of technological whizbangs like the DCT and electric motor AWD and whatever else they're throwing in there. I'm all for these techs, just not in this type of car. Or just take the raw power and handling of the Vette.

I saw 2.0L turbo @ 330hp and was hopeful.

Then I saw AWD and was like that's awesome.

Then I saw electric motors... and was like... this is going to cost me...

Then I saw $100,000k and laughed.

How about we just drop the electric shit Honda and you give me a new mid engine rwd (or AWD) sports car with that engine for $40-50k (to start). At $100k you best compete with a Cayman GT4 (with quite a few options).

Think of it as CVT with notches. :awe:

Pretty much. I recently took a Chrysler 200 out for a spin...295 HP on a 9-speed auto tranny. It was decently smooth, but yeah, a bit notchy at times The CVT in my wife's Forester is far better. Although other CVT's are crap compared to either of those (looking at you, Honda HR-V).

It's almost like they don't understand why the S2000 was so praised/loved.

They should just update the interior of the S2000 and give the F22 hotter cams, direct injection and the latest i-VTEC system. Swap the suspension arms for aluminum and swap in some high-strength steel in the windshield surround for weight loss. 2600 pounds, ~280 HP, sell it for $25K, and mop the floor with the blood of the Miata and Toyobaru, while giving the Boxster S and Z4M serious anxiety (just like the original S2000). The existing chassis is already essentially perfect from a geometry and weight distribution standpoint. It needs so little from an engineering standpoint to be brought into the present. It would be dirt-cheap to bring into production and they could easily make a profit even at the lower price point.

I should forward this thread to Honda. If you guys ever make it big with them, just give me the first production car.

$100,000k? Yeah, seems a little steep. I'd want suborbital capability for that kind of money.

...where is this supposed to fall in their pricing structure? Why all the tech gizmos, AWD, Dual clutch? It's not being badged an Acura.

Forget the tech. 2700 pound, 2.0 Turbo K-series 260+ horsepower longitudinally mounted, RWD coupe or 2+2 seater for $30,000.

Watch it fly off the lots.
