I was on the couch neffing, and I reached to grab my USB mouse on the coffee table. Tilted over too much and my laptop fell, on it's side with the outlet plugged in.

I got a white screen. =( It would not restart or turn off, so I took out the battery, waited a few minutes, and then put it back in. It turned on and booted up normally.

Unfortunately, now it does not charge. The AC or DC jack is broken, it wiggles and cracks when I stick in the outlet plug. The first repair shop I went to said $200 to fix.

=(

I bought it 3 weeks ago. I need some love people. Make my day better somehow.

At least you didn't find naked pics of your mom and dad in the basement and post them online.

Find someone on craigslist to solder it for you - shouldn't be more than $50-75.

That sucks. Maybe take up one of those laptop insurance deals for a few bucks and cash it in?

Or try and fix it yourself...if its just loose, you can probably fix it easily enough.

open it up and re-solder it. cant be that hard.

I do not trust myself with such a task.

I found a guy on craigslist willing to do it for 80 flat fee, but I will try another repair shop first before I ask him. This one is supposed to be pretty good, the first I went to was just a pull out of the phone book.

This is not a blog. This affects everyone on this board. Please do not diminish the importance of this matter.

Acer Extensa.

Even if I get it fixed, that white screen scares me. I might pick up something on Black Friday just in case.

Check out their support website.

Dell fixed my lappy after it got soaked. I just emailed them and they sent me a prepaid box and had it fixed within a week at no charge.

Yeah, but did you tell them that it got soaked?

I only have the standard warranty, and I read it like a lawyer: negligence is not covered.

"Uhh, so yeah I was trying to take out my charger, and it felt a little more difficult to take out. Now it will not charge. New lappy plz"

or you could say that it seemed to be not fitting correctly, but thought it was just due to new parts, not familiar to you. over time, it stopped working and feels like it is broken inside. now it wont charge at all. fix it! lol.

personally, id fess up to it and see if they will sell you the extended warranty to fix it, if youo cant get a good price on the repair. i just sold a toshiba extended warranty to a guy that cracked the display on a 2 week old laptop. they knew about the display being cracked and still sold the warranty and fixed it for him. saved him cash in the long run.

check with your credit card company (assuming you bought it on a CC) and they should be able to replace it for you
