I live in the middle of nowhere. we have 1 provider.

i been paying $59 for 6 mbps and free phone. Well my service has started to suck so i called them. while looking on the page i noticed they changed the price..

they now have 5 mbps for $39, 10 mbps for 49 and 15 mbps for $59...

ahhh!

edit: hehe just got off the phone with them. they are sending out a tech to see if ic an get the 15. if not i should get the 10 woo..

IF i have to stay on the 5 they will adjust my bill to the 39 woo!

Comcast just doubled my internet speed for free yesterday. Had to call in and get the correct code added to my account though. Hit 15.2 MB downloading some games on steam where before on blast I would cap at about 6.8.

Better internet provider is the best solution. AT&T is fast, although they put a cap on the internet so you can only use 150GB per month.

nice, my area is similar, we have two choices though, dsl and cable... the dsl provider is att, and i think the best package is 15/5 here?? however the cable co is badass, locally owned company, they have 2 cable networks (my community and another suburb) a microwave network, and the cable tv service is way awesome, basic hd is over 100 channels, and you can use your own qam tuner...

they offer a 30/10 package but it's 100 bucks, and a static ip and some webspace and such, but i just have the 20/5 package, dynamic ip, no caps or anything, they use a nice cisco modem too, torrents dont really kill it even..

I was just able to get above 1.5 last year finally, but it's ridonkulously expensive. No eta on getting into the 7-12 range yet, but they're guessing 5-10 years (and probably for about $100/mo).

I got an upgrade from 8/1 to 50/30 this summer, was awesome. Never knew we'd get fibre here, I'm still very happy with it. Also very happy it's not capped. Lot of people get fibre, but then it's capped, so what's the point.
