Wolf Blitzer gets owned on Jeopardy

On celebrity Jeopardy last night, Andy Richter, a lowly comedian, totally dominated respected, intelligent political commentator Wolf Blitzer. Celebrity Jeopardy is so easy, my 4-year-old cousin could manage a positive score with the throwaway clues they give. Not Wolf. Not even close, finishing more than $4,000 in the red.

A man who helps shape Americans' thoughts on important issues made stupid guess after stupid guess, leading to a hugely negative total. I'll certainly be taking these commentator's opinions with a grain of salt, not assuming they are intelligent and expressing their own, logically-deduced view just because a major news network has given them a medium to express themselves.

People with extremely strong political interests tend to be pretty stupid, just take a look at P&N. Following politics is important, but it tends to draw the dregs of society in with great enthusiasm.

This is obviously a fix setup by right wing converatives to make Wolf look bad. Andy was no doubt given answers beforehand and his buzzer was given priority over the other contestants.

I wouldn't say stupid, but politics does tend to suck all your focus onto it.

Blitzer isn't much of a commentator to begin with, though, he's mostly just an anchor/host.
Even some of the CNN correspondents are idiots, so I wouldn't expect much from Wolf.
CNN sucks now, but Wolf still has the most awesome name ever.

Blitzer is a poor, poor journalist so it is not a surprise. He failed to ask hard questions before the Iraq war and he fails to ask hard questions now - during the health care debate. I really dislike this guy.

thats what i was thinking. i watched the whole show and i got WAY more right than he did. even the desperate housewife did better!! haha

i was happy for Andy - now he might be known for more than being a sidekick/comedian.

Alright, I saw this on Conan a couple nights ago. I thought it was a spoof though, since generally they're not allowed to talk about the shows before they air.

But Richter is actually known to be a pretty damn smart guy himself.

Ah yes, the simple explanation - he must be stupid. Of course, it is just as plausible that he doesn't handle the format very well. e.g. some highly intelligent persons crack when they are put under some pressure to perform (such as test/exam anxiety).
