I got it the day it came out. Fun game, and surprisingly hard at times on the default difficulty setting. I died like 4 times in a row last night before giving up at a part where they throw a particularly large number of nazis at you at once.

I have it - I've only played about 6 hours so far.

There have been a couple parts in the game where you need to be stealthy, otherwise alarms will sound and you can get swarmed. At least that how it has been for me on the second hardest difficulty setting.

I will eventually get it. Best Buy's having their Gamers Club Unlocked membership on-sale for $60 (normally $120) next week. I intend to take that opportunity to join that club and get 20% off new games (they also give a buy 2, get 1 free coupon, which I might use with Watch Dogs and something else).

I got it when it came out. So far I really like it. The storyline is actually interesting and the character interact very well. I tried starting on the hardest difficulty and regretted that quickly lol, so I switched to the 2nd hardest difficulty because I do like to keep things challenging. My 1st issue is that the recoil on your gun is insane but sorta realistic in a way, and it's easier to shoot without aiming down sights at times. That's fine whatever. The only other issue I have with the game is that the AI is sometimes amazing and too good. These guys ricochet grenades off of walls and they land right at your feet. Otherwise the game is a lot more fun that I thought it would be, and some parts will make you clench your butthole when a big robot/t-rex/dog chases you around tries to kill you. Overall I'd give it an 8/10.

Wow, not bad review wise. Might have to grab it.

Can't get full reviews at work but Google searches seem to hint that it is a 15-20 hour of gameplay type game. Not bad for an FPS.

The engine is terrible. Cool game though, really a throwback. I nearly can't get over how awful that engine is though. It's nearly as bad as Source if not more so.

I don't buy games at launch anymore but it's on my "to play" list for this year. The original Wolf 3D was the first FPS game I ever played. Please tell me Mecha Hitler makes an appearance.

I got it also, only got to play about 30min but was fun so far. Reviews for it aren't too bad. The biggest letdown is the graphics, they aren't good at all.

From what I understand it's only 15-20 hours if you crank the difficulty.

That's what keeps me from buying it until it's on sale, sadly.

I like it a lot and managed to pick up a reserved pre-order that was not picked up from the store and avoided the huge download. Registered for the D00M Beta which for me was a big incentive along with liking D00M, RTCW, etc. But I am having a problem based on my setup and past experience and lack there of now. I bought the original Xbox on launch day back in 2001. Played it a couple of years, then switched to a few PC games. Then stopped playing anything for several years. Skipped the 360 entirely. I have a 50" 720p Samsung DLP TV. It's old, but works well. The problem I am having is the lack of detail for the things that pop up on screen. Like how to do a sprint slide. It's basic, but I couldn't read how to use what combo to do it. Even the help menu icons are hard to read. I'm wondering if it looks the same on s 1080p TV. I used a USB controller in Skyrim for PC so I am familiar with the controller and from original Xbox, just am having a hard time deciphering the game specific functions. I am only 12' back from it. Even if I walk up close to the screen it's too blurry to clearly see which button does what. Anyone else having this issue or is everyone using a 1080p for years now so it's non-issue or is it still blurry? I don't want to buy a new TV until this one dies. Plus, I just shelled out for a 27" 2060X1440 monitor and just paid $399+ tax for Xbox One plus the game. I opted for Xbox as I like not having to sit in a chair and surround sound is nice in my living room.

I doubt it's just you. I noticed that a lot of the text in this game is very small for a console game. It weird because that is usually one of the drawbacks of trying to play PC games on the big screen. They should know better than to make console games with text that tiny.

Well, I am watching a ballgame right now and I can easily pick out the text in the Directv Guide and anything else. It looks crisp and clear. It's the game.

I agree, the German to English translation at the bottom of the screen the fonts are very small as well.

I went and picked up a used copy of COD Ghosts. They actually stuck an image of a labeled controller which is easy to read as well as understand. Just started looking around at the text info and it's fine. Wolfenstein is the culprit. My TV is just fine.

Yeah, I have a hard time reading some of the stuff on Wolfenstein as well. They just made all the fonts too small. Reading some of the map info is hard as well - I don't understand why they did not make the maps zoomable/pannable.

I've seen the same complaint many places, I bet they patch that at some point.

Anyone have issues of getting a bit dizzy with this game?
I remember many people getting motion sickness even in the original Wolfenstein 3d, probably because everything moves so fast. I tried to calculate B.J. running speed in it once and at 70 FPS he actually runs at between 61mph (98kmph) and 75mph (121kmph), if you estimate 3 meters and 8 feet as a base length for each tile. Almost twice as fast as the fastest 100 metre record in the world :awe:

Nerds!

TheSlamma,
I haven't gotten motion sickness. I remember watching Mario64 when it came out and that made me want to vomit. The only time I ever got sick watching a video game because it was so real ....

I forgot I started this thread. As fate has it, I bought the game about a month ago. I am near completion on the second hardest difficulty setting. You have to be stealthy at times at this setting or you will die. And be sure to target the commanders first. On this difficulty setting there was only one time I was pissed. I was probably 80% of the way through the game. My save point had me with very little ammo and almost no health. I entered a room full of heavily armored bad guys and could not get through it for hours. Eventually I changed it to easy mode (you can do that during play) and wiped everyone out. Then I searched the room. There is no armor or health in the room. So, I was pretty pissed off. I think it is a part of the game that lacked polish and it is probably why one of the pieces of advice during load screens is that you can change difficulty settings during the game. On this setting, there are times where you have to do an area a few times to figure out how to clear it. Which is fine. I enjoyed that aspect.

I plan on going through the game one more time on easy just to blow through it. On easy, the bad guys are super dumb and shoot slowly. On the very hard setting I noticed that some characters can not be snuck up on (heavily armored guys).

Hope to finish the game this week.

I'd give it a solid nostalgia/10. It's a pretty dumb game but I have to say that I loved it. I actually can't wait to go through on an easier setting and just annihilate everything. I need to search for cheat codes though. I hope they exist.

I don't know why Hollywood has not made this game into a movie. It is amazing in terms of historical sci-fi fiction.

This game is a great mix between new and old. Good reviews and actually lived up to those reviews, I'm glad I bought it. Wish it had more replay value though.

Replay value was my main concern about a purchase. I loved the engine though. I hope more devs jump on board the 60fps hype train.

I plan on running through it twice. But that is about it. I wonder if on easy mode if it is enough fun to do over and over again. That's how it was with the original doom and quake games. I never cared much for the original Wolfenstein though.

Nitemare mode on Doom 2 was the best! It took me around 5000 times before I beat level 2 without saving but I finally did it. I think it took me 2 years before I actually figured out how to beat Level 30... I kept trying to hit the brain with BFG as the platform was going up before figuring out what I was really supposed to do
