I just got done playing Wolverine for about a week on PS3. It's a beat em up game with decent graphics. It's very very violent! If you like beat em ups I suggest to give this game a try. I rented it from gamefly, but I wouldn't buy it.

For the first 2/3rds of the game, it was very fun. After that, it got very repetitive and the bugginess of the game started to really stand out. I'm not one to complain about bugs but the part where I stopped playing, one of the later boss fights atop some kind of power plant, left me falling to my death while trying to lunge. It took me about 5 minutes of getting to the point 3 times to give up and not want to play anymore.

The regular enemies are fun to slash up and the controls aren't bad. The most annoying parts of the game are fighting the larger mini-bosses that follow the same format. I can't believe how many times they make you fight a wendigo or a rock monster. It's just silly.

It's worth a shot but expect to get bored/frustrated towards the end!

I played the 360 port on normal difficulty, and the first time through encountered no serious bugs. The second time though, there were glitches that would require reloading a checkpoint. But, since that is fairly quick, and the saves are pretty frequent, a minor issue. The biggest glitch I found, was my combat reflexes froze on robots and machete guys just half a bar short of full. No amount of fighting them, even with the Samurai and art of war mutagens made them budge.

The last segment of the final boss battle with Blood Pool is definitely frustrating. Once he starts using Cyclops energy blast it becomes fairly difficult to stay ahead of the collapses. I tried closing the distance enough to leap, but often he was just too far away. Turned out, I just needed to start running the moment he teleports, and repeatedly jump, and I stayed ahead of the falls long enough to leap on him again.

The trick to beating him was to hit him with a leap, then just do the claw pounce thing over and over. He would kind of cower and try to shield himself 2-3 times before finally teleporting to another spot or fighting back. Then it is just a matter of getting to him again before he regenerates health, rinse and repeat with fury attacks mixed in.

I equipped fully leveled health, stamina, and fury mutagens for that fight.

It is extremely similar to Conan, which I thought was a better game for the hack&slash aspect.

The game was fun though, I liked deciding which powers you level, and when to equip which mutagen/s. I kept the gain extra experience mutagens all the way through from the time I got the level 1 version, the first play through. Lets you buy new moves faster.

BTW, Once the claw damage is fully leveled, and with an extra damage mutagen equipped, the Wendingos and Leviathans die really fast. I beat all 4 at the lake, simultaneously, for the achievement, with no trouble.

You didn't miss much not finishing the fight though, and if you want to see the final cutscene I'm certain it is on YouTube.

I also agree it is a rental, by the end of the 2nd play through, I'd mastered everything, and leveled everything but those glitched combat reflexes. Hell there were only like 4 achievements left at that point, and 2 were secret ones I had no desire to google or pursue.

I bought it on PC. I'm really digging it with the Xbox gamepad. It's one of the best X-men games to come out in a long time, even better than MUA. I liked playing through the Africa levels, with Wolvie only having his bone claws.

But in the comics, weren't his bone claws pretty weak?

Edit: I played the demo first on the 360 and noticed some slowdowns at 720p (in the africa level, in the waterfall and a few other spots). Are those slowdowns present in the PS3 version, too?

the game looks so easy and the framerate is pretty crappy.

looks like it would be fun for like 5-10 minutes then get boring.
