So the Crosby (the bar where the fight happened) has since shut down. My cousin is friends with the owners and they said they weren't making money and didn't want to deal with the hoopla so they just closed it. They were doing it as a hobby. The city begged them to stay open (they bring a lot of people).
Downtown Santa Ana has since slowly died down a lot. I have friends who own a few businesses and restaurants there and they told me that it is a fraction of what it was. Foot traffic is dead around there during the day time now too.
Don't know if your friends already told you but The Crosby's location has already reopened for a couple of months now. The new restaurant is called The North Left. Never did get a chance to try The Crosby before it closed down, so I'm pretty bummed about that. Heard good things about their food.
Also, DTSA is still quite popular at night even these days and I'm not really sure why everyone is calling it the hood. It's about as hood on the weekends as going to Culver City, DTLA, LES in NYC, etc. It's obviously not south OC but it's far from what you guys are portraying it as. Your friends probably have a better feel for the general foot traffic but the weekend traffic still seems pretty heavy. It's still difficult to get a spot at The Playground and Yost always seems busy.
Anyways, sad and tragic story altogether for really all parties involved. A misunderstanding that could have easily been deescalated but instead turned into this travesty.

that kind of monster lives in me..i could totally beat someone to death if i accidently bumped into them, apoligized, and they start in on me with some snotty "im better than you, look down my nose at you" type of attitude...... i'm stick my finger in there eye... like deep in there eye.

Getting bumped and letting it go doesn't make you a coward, it makes you not an idiot.
Someone bumped into her and she escalated it to where she threw the first punch. It's a shame she died, but the bold? Probably not so much
Usually it's not who throws the first punch but who hurts the other person more will get in trouble in a street fight.
This is part of the reason why you should simply blow someone away if you're physically confronted. Don't fight back, simply pull out your .357 magnum and defend yourself.
