I agree, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind - chop off his penis instead.

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."
--Mahatma Gandhi

Revenge isn't justice, it's just revenge.

Sometimes, revenge is the closest you can get to actual justice. Putting the guy in prison isn't justice, making him pay financially isn't justice...so revenge is the best the lady may ever get.

This solves nothing.

Again, there's no way to "solve" this in the first place. At best, the woman can know that the asshole who attacked her gets (almost) the same treatment he gave to her.

I'm glad for her. I think all victims should have the choice to do something like this, specifically when the crime is something like this.

Yep. Far too many criminals get away with not much more than a slap on the wrist for their crimes. Let the victims mete out the punishment...punishment that's appropriate for the crime.
Assault someone? Get beaten with a baseball bat
Rape someone, get raped in return...then have your "package" removed with a dull, rusty knife...and beaten with a baseball bat.

Why does the guy get to be rendered unconscious before this happens?

That part is wrong. Let him suffer the pain that she had to suffer. Strap him to a table, help her pour copious amounts of acid into his eyes and face...then, once he's "enjoying" the pain of the punishment, beat him with a baseball bat.

(yes, it's true, I own stock in Hillerich & Bradsby, makers of the famous Louisville Slugger baseball bats.)

Additionally, carrying out this revenge will leave an additional emptiness in the heart and mind of the victim that will only add to the pain already present with no opportunity for later healing.

How the fuck do you know it "will leave an additional emptiness". don't pretend to understand how the victim will feel, you are not the victim, you do not know the victim, you are just some schmuck on a forum.

Whether or not anyone agrees with this punishment, This will surely prevent others from doing the same- CRIME deterrent

You are forgetting what "crime passionnel" is all about. It is not the same as for example robbing a bank. Robbing a bank you do consciously with your emotions under your control. That is what is called a premeditated crime. You plan for it. Now i agree that not everybody has battery acid under their kitchen sink. But these kind of crimes are based upon cultural acceptance. You have to remove the cultural acceptance and that can only be done willingly. These kinds of crimes, are also crimes of passion, guided by emotion where no form of reason helps. It will not stop. It will be a bit less. But it will never stop. Fear does not stop people indefinitely ,it never has. It is by biological nature that humans can surpass their fear and use "intelligence" against a problem. The true reason why humans are the dominant multicellular lifeforms on this planet.

Addendum :

That is why in the old days, people would murder any single enemy child, woman and man. Because they will come back one day. We are supposed to live in a day and age where we are suppose to leave these cruelties behind.

To bad he wont be awake to feel the true pain she went through when he did it to her, but close enough I suppose.

Yeah, that's all fine and dandy William Gaatjes, but you'd think twice before committing a crime if you know you could lose your penis. Fearful or not. Passionate or not.

The way you choose your words give me the impression you are a very sad person.
The word empathy means nothing to you, does it..

Revenge isn't justice, it's just revenge.
If someone killed one of my loved ones, I would take great pleasure in killing him. What's wrong with getting revenge, as long as you don't take it too far? I think it is the ultimate justice.

Families of murder victims often talk about forgiving the murderer, but they are just coping with the situation. The murderer is in prison and it is impossible for the family of the victim to harm the murderer. So they convince themselves that they've forgiven him in order to get closure. Actually getting revenge seems like it would be much better. Of course that doesn't usually happen except in movies, and it's not realistic in our society.

If i can hold you responsible for the actions of your brother or sister, you will make sure that he or she does not make mistakes.

I'd say that's probably the worst possible thing you can do, much more evil than simply allowing someone to have revenge on someone else. So if my brother went on a killing spree, you think it would make sense for me or my parents to get punished? Having a murderer in your family is punishment enough I think.

You should go easy on the porn.
Desiring someone is not only about having to use a penis or emptying testicles.

Taking things out of context is easy for you people is it not ? It is as if i am listening to people who use the bible as "the word of god". and then take a single phrase to justify their actions...

But i can do that as well.
If your brother is going to go on a killing spree there will be signs. If you cannot recognize them, you never really cared about your brother.

I would have hoped that she could find forgiveness for him, but I support her decision for revenge.

something like this is very prevalent in the muslim countries. the court's decision of an eye for an eye justice will hopefully curtail these types of attacks. forgiveness will not

What am I taking out of context? I don't know why you're mentioning the word of god. I'm not religious at all. I just don't see why revenge is considered 100% bad 100% of the time.

There aren't always signs, and when there are, they're not always obvious. It's not like one day a flashing sign appears above someone's head saying "danger this person may commit mass murder one day." A lot of people who commit violent crimes are just very quiet and keep to themselves. Is that a sign? Uh, no, a lot of people are quiet and keep to themselves and are never violent, and constantly pestering them about being introverted is just making things worse.

Seems like some double standards in this thread. It was fine for the US to get revenge on Osama but it is wrong for this lady to get revenge on her attacker?

I'm torn between feeling like this is inhumanely barbarous and feeling like the guy shouldn't be unconscious for the acid to the eyes. WTF.

they should make him work and check in to the police regularly, so that the woman can at least get a regular income.
Revenge doesn't bring justice.

If it serves the purpose of deterring other men from doing teh same though, it might not be totally worthless.

I think this is a step in the right direction.

Too often have people tossed around the words "forgive," sorry" and "thank you" without truly feeling that way. Sadly, they have lost their meaning and now it's just being said in jest.

Does the guy really feel sorry for what he did? I'm pretty sure he does now since his life is on the line. But before today, I bet he just didn't give a shit and thought he could get away with it.

It's fine to remove a criminal from society/the world. It's wrong to maim people for the sake of making us feel satisfied. People say make criminals think twice with obscene punishments... the problem is they never even think once. If they did 90% of crime wouldn't happen in the first place.
