Are you a cyclist? Because they constantly endanger the safety of people on the road.

Unlike you, however, I'm not a foaming psychopath bent on making everyone follow my rules.

And you're not the one laughing, I am, so who cares if you think it's funny? Not me.

No, I'm not a cyclist and they need to get the fuck off the main roads too.

If you happen to wreck because you're fucking stupid while texting/emailing/facebooking on your phone, lets only hope that if anyone is killed, it's only you.

Someone should have quoted his retracted post so he could have gotten the banhammer.

Fair enough. I hope you don't kill anybody else with your deadly cycling accidents either.

I won't advocate banning cycling on roads tho, America is fat enough as is.

You mean this one?

Why don't you post something interesting for once, you stupid fuck? I've been here for a year and don't recall a single one of your shitposts.

You're a mediocre wise and beautiful woman even on this forum. Sad that in a place where you spend so much time, and the bar is so low, and you still can't succeed!

When you leave your moms basement at age 63 and can't find work or money PM me. I'm very amenable to charity cases like you.

That's a laughable claim.

Reminds me of this woman:

http://www.kentucky.com/2014/09/19/3437785/woman-charged-for-biking-on-us.html?rh=1

She rides her bike on Nicholasville Road here in Lexington at all times of the day. That road is up to 7 lanes wide and has reversible lanes (to allow better traffic flow during peaks). She doesn't care that she is holding a major highway in Lexington up and making it unsafe for EVERYONE.

Edit: Removed to read the thread further for more information.

that is an interesting case.

the laws are there to protect her from being killed but i don't think she sees it that way.

refusing to drive on what looks like a paved shoulder makes it seem like she is trying to prove a point.

a point that is moot when she is run down by a kia and the driver of the car is prosecuted for murder or whatever when the cyclist was given instructions by a judge to get on the shoulder.

Howso? Whatever damage they don't do hitting pedestrians, they definitely cause many accidents.

You support your argument with nothing, and try to ban me when you look stupid.
http://www.streetsblog.org/2014/01/...clists-injured-178-killed-in-traffic-in-2013/
16000+ pedestrians injured in NYC in 2013 by motor vehicles.

Guess how many people were injured by bicycle? I couldn't find as much information on that topic, but in 2011, a report stated that ~1000 pedestrians were injured statewide (in NY), with ~55% coming from NYC. Seems like the bigger danger to the most vulnerable users of transit infrastructure are motor vehicles.

Does that excuse bad behavior from bicyclists? No. But the vitriol directed at them is way out of proportion with the amount of danger they actually are to everyone.
-----

As a person who's driven, ridden a bike, and walked through NYC, I've see a lot of crap from everyone:
-Speeding cars
-Cars running red lights
-Cars turning blindly across bike lanes and through cross walks
-Cars speeding up to turn in front of a bike
-Cars nearly hitting pedestrians
-Cars not using turn signals before turning or changing lanes.

-Bicycles salmoning up the street
-Bicycles blindly running red lights
-Bicycle riders with headphones in and not paying attention

-Pedestrians who wait in the street, including bike lanes
-Pedestrians who jaywalk dangerously (eg: without looking, staring at their phones, etc...)
-Pedestrians who wander into the street without looking

-etc...

I also see plenty of people in all those groups who can follow the rules and/or use some common sense.

I have no power to ban you. And being stupid has hardly been an impediment for posters here. Have you looked around P&N lately? The general rule of thumb has always been: don't want to be banned? Don't be an asshole.

Interesting statistics, so 16:1 ratio of car to bycicle injuries.

I wonder what the ratio is of bikes to cars on NYC roads? I would guess that it would actually be close to that 16:1 number. If it's lower, then bikes are actually even worse than cars!

Your statistics paint a grim picture of bike to pedestrian interaction in NYC. None of those 1000 people NEEDED to be injured. They ( the cyclists) could've taken the fucking bus!

But they didn't, and that's ok. There is a certain possibility there is some cyclists headlight waiting to break my neck when I step out the door, but I take that risk. There is a risk I'll get hit by somebody texting in a supremely ironic way, but I take that risk too.

As a pedestrian, we really need to turn to what other countries are like....

When a car is coming yo-- "OH SHIT run across the street before you get hit!!!"

We are the only fucking country in the world where you can be a pompous dickhead and casually walk across the street. The number of dickheads that cross even when the light is green saying "These people can wait on me" is absurd. Try that shit in other countries and see how quick you become road kill. For good reason.

A fucking road is for moving vehicles. You were taught as a child to look both ways, and get across ASAP. Yet as a country we are turning more and more towards entitlement. Sorry, but don't turn this to pedestrians, because I'm not about to defend US pedestrians.

A ciclist riding on the roadway is a danger to himself and others.

It is laughable that any of you think otherwise.

You might consider it an 'acceptable risk', but they are a danger.

Where I live we have bike lanes on many roads, but the ciclists refuse to ride on them. They don't like the pebbles and they claim that non-lance armstrong ciclists slow them down inhibiting their training for the olympics.

Pedestrians always have the right of way.

I'm amazed that cyclists are so poorly educated about the same roads they beg us to keep clean for them.

And that's as it should be. I shouldn't have to fear for my cars paint job from roving bands of cyclists, as often occur here near pch.

Yup, yet her supporters on here will claim she is not causing traffic, that she is helping traffic.

Meanwhile there's a line of 20++ cars behind her trying to get to work so they can pay for the road she rides on.

Ciclists want all the benefits of cars but non of the downsides. They don't want to follow the laws, they don't want to help pay for them. But they have no problem holding lanes and blocking traffic, or mauling some poor lady in a crosswalk who dares be in their way.
