I've done that all my life and I'm still here. I don't take shit from anyone, especially not from cocksuckers on a power-trip. I won't tolerate it. As long as people aren't abusing their power they wouldn't have to see the other side of me. And don't lecture me. I've had someone from the Marines try to do that to me once. Unfortunately, our mission was not under military command and he had to be chewed out by someone 20 years his junior...
This reminds me of when Patton slapped the coward for being in the infirmary. Its a sad state when the military has to be politically correct.

LMAO!!!! My bet is you have mouthed off to a judge or police and had to pay for the mistake.

I have never had to stand in front of any judge but a family member and I almost go prosecuted for beating the snot out of someone that was stalking our cousin. Someone in the Dallas prosecutor office tried to use us to make a name for himself. Well, after our campaign the prosecutor "understood" all that was at stake and made the right choice to drop the charges. Why he never charged the stalker is beyond me.

Wow, you're such a billy badass on the intarweb.

Re-read the thread, idiot. A lot of people disagree with you but are too nice to call you an idiot. You are an idiot.

Yet, you did admit to being an arson on this forum. So who's the idiot??

I have no idea what any extenuating circumstances, if any, existed, though. Maybe the judge knows her to be a piece of trash and was looking for an excuse to keep her away from us all for longer.

the last comment on the article sheds a little light on the past:

"Ebony Burks had the same attitude while she was in the juvenile system. She actually threw a chair and severely injured a childcare worker because she didn't get her own way. It's a wonder she's not dead due to her "hot" head! I commend Judge Bennett for putting this "Super B" in her place. Hope he sticks to the sentence as she deserves it. She thinks "she's a bag of chips but nothing but a bag of sh--!!"

Silly question... but what is the maximum sentence a judge can give for contempt of court? It's that 300 day sentence even legal??

Edit: Never mind... I looked it up myself. It looks like the maximum sentence is 90 days for each additional additional offense in Ohio:

http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/2705

So, the worst the judge could have legally done was to increase her sentence from 200 days to 290 instead of 300 after she used the F bomb in the video.

Sadly, her lawyer will probably be able to use that information to reduce her contempt sentence to something much shorter. Bummer, because that lady seems like she could use a few months in the slammer to cool off.

tbh, i believe i am

see romans 13 for pertinent info:

"Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you."

There were "laws" that made it "legal" to own slaves. Did Paul advocate that? You would have just gone along with it because it was "the law" and disregarded the evil act that it is? Well at least you admit it.

Wow! Some people actually believe that if you do not grovel in front of authority you deserve to be in a "cage". Do you not see how wrong it is to aggress against those who have not harmed you? Specifically speaking of the worded exchange between the funny robe man and the black lady, she did not physically attack him but he is forcibly controlling her life by throwing her in a cage for 300 days due to simply offending his ego. What grants this individual more rights than us? The same interaction amongst two neighbors is just an argument.

I wonder how much jail time she'll for the assault. If she's convicted of assault, will the sentence begin after her sentence for contempt has been completed?

Six or seven months ago, there was a contempt thread about another person that didn't know how to behave in a courtroom. While Penelope Soto was initially given a 30 day contempt sentence, a few days later the judge vacated it after she apologized.

My perception is that that is pretty conventional.

In the American Criminal Justice system, judges have a great deal of latitude. You and I are free to like or dislike that -- But our likes or dislikes don't change anything.

Once, I had the occasion to spend a morning in a criminal courtroom in Daytona Beach FL. And I was amazed at the amount of crap that the judge had to take. I was also amazed at the number of people that apparently lacked any concept concerning what constituted civil behavior.

Seriously, it was more outrageous than anything you'd ever see on TV -- people arguing with the judge about how much marijuana constitutes possession, people arguing with the judge about their identities, people dressed in dirty T-shirts with holes in them, people that couldn't keep quiet, people that couldn't stop moving...

When I was at the Military Police Academy, they told me that the vast majority of criminals were stupid and lazy. I don't remember whether I believed it when they told me that. But after spending some time in a criminal courtroom, I believed it.

And oh, no sympathy for violent offenders. If they can't control their violent urges, lock them up with their peers!

This. It's shameful how our military has been reduced to catering to all these "Woe is me I have teh PTSD" crybaby bullcrap instead of making them man up and get out there.

No they don't but our belief does. Do we imagine this priest to have more rights than us? If we do, well you get what we have here. If we don't he ends up talking to himself and a wall while still wearing his clown suit.

I admitted (and did a lot worse than that) and nothing has come of that...

Actually, they don't anymore. The power mainly rests with prosecutors and judges have to follow the minimum sentence guidelines. The judge in this case was just being an asshole.

So being respectful to judges is now "groveling"?

Seems to me like you are just a typical liberal who thinks people should be able to do whatever they feel like. The woman in question probably was raised with such an attitude.

Actualy this woman is black....

This look the same as a plantation owner playing with a slave ,
no doubt that this judge is not balanced , unless one can find
such an exemple but with a white woman i would say that the
juge is a racist that has the law with him as a convenient cover
to stomp this person.

I guess you don't understand. It is not that the woman mouthed off. Stop looking at everything through the authoritarian mindset. Does the so called "judge" have the right to cage a person simply because his ego was injured? Do you have that right with your neighbor when they insult you? Why do you imagine this clown to have more rights than you or I?

Seeing you're not smart enough to figure out what "contempt of court" means I will post the definition for you.

http://dictionary.law.com/Default.aspx?selected=325

contempt of court
n. there are essentially two types of contempt:

a) being rude, disrespectful to the judge or other attorneys or causing a disturbance in the courtroom, particularly after being warned by the judge;

b) willful failure to obey an order of the court. This latter can include failure to pay child support or alimony.

The court's power to punish for contempt (called "citing" one for contempt) includes fines and/or jail time (called "imposing sanctions").

Incarceration is generally just a threat and if imposed, usually brief. Since the judge has discretion to control the courtroom, contempt citations are generally not appealable unless the amount of fine or jail time is excessive. "Criminal contempt" involves contempt with the aim of obstruction of justice, such as threatening a judge or witness or disobeying an order to produce evidence.

But in this woman case the juge is the only one
who had power to appreciate if it was technicaly
a series of offenses , in short , the offended is
judge and party at the same time....

In such cases she must be trialed for thoses
contempts by an independant court with another judge.

Would had this resulted in 300 days penalty ?
I highly doubt it.

You should go back read what I posted, no independent court or judge is required for a presiding judge to hold a person in contempt of court and jail/fine said offender.

Again you miss it. I care not for politician scribble. They have no more rights than any of us. Why is this so hard to grasp?

EDIT: Actually I already know why. You haven't been taught any other way.

I have no clue why you can't grasp that the US is based on laws and until these laws are changed they will be applied as written.

"Laws" are not moral and are arbitrary allowing a select few to subjugate the masses. You know no different and can't think because you haven't been bred to think, you've been bred to do as you're told. Some will get it some will not.
