I'm an Orthodox Jew.
I have no problems with women.
As a matter of fact I like women.
OMG imagine that.
I'm assuming you're a New Yorker, in which case I think we both know how women are treated in Orthodox Jewish communities :/ I've had Orthodox Jew female friends who would quit school and get married at incredibly early ages out of social obligation. Along with that there's the wigs, the dress code, the caring for children where their own career takes a back seat (and sometimes even literally, with women restricted to sitting in the back of the Synagogue). Then there's the crazy ass menstruation rules, which sure as shit shocked me. For the most part women still have no role in learning the Talmud and depending on how strict their community is, may be prevented from receiving any schooling past the mandatory high school level.
It depends on how conservative the community and the teachings/Rabbi they ascribe to are, but proponents of women's rights they aren't. This isn't just Judaism, though. Any Abrahamic religion that follows more strict and conservative teachings often treat their women like crap, Christians and Muslims included.
