I got drafted. But I still think drafting women is a tool of last resort, along with drafting under age teenagers.
Antiquated as they are, the moral and ethical traditions our nation are beholden to is in direct conflict with forcing women into battle as a draft would in fact do to them.
Maybe with the passage of time, those attitudes may change. But at the moment, I really don't think the idea of forcing our wives, daughters and precious loved ones into battle is going to go over too well.
Conditional drafts where women may choose their specialty sounds more palatable for now.
How is that any difference from forcing a son into battle? Are they more expendable loved ones than daughters?
