You can do the same thing with grain alcohol. Put a about a half a shot of the grain in a glass bottle, put your thumb over the top, swish it around for a couple of seconds to coat the inside of the bottle, then hold a lighter over the top. You'll hear this whistle and a whoosh, and if the lights are off or dim, you can see the blue flame.

That's how we used to do it.

Grain Alcohol, like 190 proof. The rot gut stuff that college kids make punch out of. I think you can do the same with the high proof Bacardi too.

Is there something in the normal household we can use to do this? I mean, yeah, I know about the two liter bottle, but about the stuff you put inside, I have no clue.

I put some liquid oxygen in a bottle of gatorade with a sports cap before. Woohoo, just wait till that thing builds up enough pressure, aim it at a wall and watch it shatters.

Take pix without flash. Yeah, any alcohol with a >75% alcohol content will do it. Everclear, 151, Moonshine :Q, and a host of other.

Ok, please, whatever you do, DO NOT TRY TO PUT A LIGHTER TO A HALF FULL BOTTLE OF ALCOHOL!
I have to say it, because I think some of us here know what can happen. IF you must, just a tad bit will do, and make sure the bottle has a large enough opening. OBSOLUTELY NO GLASS.

It is the classic color of methanol. Just goto you hardware store and pick up a big bottle of denatured alcohol. Used in maritime stoves, you can make homemade camping stoves to burn it, also works great at cleaning stuff. Warning though, when it burns if there is light, you can't see a methanol fire, you might only see the heat trails. Methanol fires can be very dangerous if you aren't careful.
