Shipped last night!

So excited! Even though they suck compared to Frank's work they are still a great adventure through the Dune universe!

I'm a huge Dune fan but I never could get into the new Brian Herbert stuff. They felt a bit canned to me, more about the technology than the politics.

I only managed to read a 100 pages into House Atreides because of this. Does it change later on? If so I'll dust it off and start reading again.

Change.. eh, no.

It is pretty much just a simple story set in the Dune univerise. I just like reading them since I was such a big Dune fan and it's nice to get more of the characters backgrounds, even if the story isnt as epic as his fathers work.

IMO if it's not FRANK it's not DUNE.

I read all the dune books and enjoyed them greatly.

I also read "The Jesus Incident" and "The Lazarus Effect" which I LOVED. He started a third book to the series (I forget the name) and it was finished by another after his death. I started it, and it just wasn't the same....

BTW: I have read ALL of Frank Herbert's books. He is one of my all time favorite Sci-Fi writers!

They gave away free copies of it this past Labor Day weekend in Atlanta at the DragonCon scifi convention.

I tried to read it but it wasn't happening for me.

They are worth a read, they develop a lot of back story so it is a bit interesting

That book is coming. They just say they want to finish the 6 prequel books first.

I still am curious about Dune 7.. I wonder what was so powerful.

Are you talking about the old couple? They were FaceDancers. What was it you didn't understand?

BTW, Brian claimes to have an outline of the 7th book which his father let in a safty deposit box. ALL of the books writen in the Dune universe by Brian and his partner are just awfull. They don't really build up a back story for the Dune books cause Frank wrote some of the past into his books, and then Brian disregards it, making up crap just to fit his own story.

Sorry.. I really love Dune and hate to see Frank's son (and those crappy made for TV movies) make a mockery of it
