Woo hoo! I just unlocked the fuel computer on my Mazda3!

I realize that I am probably late to the party on this one, but in case some of the many mazda3 owners on this forum haven't heard about this yet...

I read about this on mazda3forums. If you have a 2006+ Mazda3 you can unlock the fuel computer by doing the following:
1) Make sure that the radio is set to turn on when you start your car.
2) With the key in the OFF position, Hold down the CD and AM/FM buttons, then start your car. Keep the buttons held down until you see DIS ON show up on the radio display.
3) Next time you start up your car your fuel computer will be functional. Switch between functions using the Set button. You can go back to viewing the clock by pressing the Clock button.

This would probably work by turning the key to ACC rather than starting the engine, I'm not sure.

Anyway, the above procedure worked like a charm for me. Apparently my average speed over the last 19000 miles is 39 mph.

Is this for the 2006 Mazda 3 Sport Touring edition? Or is this only for the Grand Touring edition?

It enables the fuel computer on all non-GT versions of the 3: i sedan, s sedan, s touring sedan, s touring hatch. I have a 2006 S Touring Hatch.

You know, the funny thing is that combos like that bypass the immobilizer in hondas. You need to call the dealer with the VIN to get the combination though.

Wow, this is awesome. I just unlocked it on my car, I'm so excited about it!

NFS4 - I think they lock it out for Touring editions so they can advertise that the GT has this "enhanced" feature.

I don't think. I have a 2006 mazda6 and while the display is capable of it, from what I hear, the hardware is not there.
