Woohoo.... Finally figured out how to stream Winamp Dolby AAC to my Airport Express

If I knew what I was doing from the beginning, it would have taken a minute. Basically, I am hosting my own shoutcast server on my laptop, then point itunes to my own shoutcast server stream.

Basically, install shoutcast DSP winamp plugin, SHoutcast server.
run shoutcast server, configure shoutcast winamp DSP plug-in,
Play Winamp.com playlist in winamp. (choose up to 20 songs at a time)
Play itunes with the stream http://localhost:9000

There is a 5-7 second delay though. probably due to the 320kbps mp3 encoding process

Also, some Dolby AACs from winamp.com were probably converted from compressed streams too. I notice the differences between songs eventhough they are the same bit rate.

I know what you mean though, I spent all weekend trying to get SPDIF passthrough for 5.1 DD working from my MCE box to my receiver. All in all, just buying a new soundcard fixed it. Don't you just love fixing things by throwing money at them? :grumble:
