woohoo my Kyro 2 is even faster with my new cpu!

Just installed a 900mhz Duron into my PC, a modest upgrade from my 750mhz Duron but worth doing. I saw a nice increase in performance with my vivid xs Kyro 2 on all games but I was very disappointed with my Geforce 2 MX. I guess my old 750mhz CPU maxed it out because I get identical frame rates on most games and only a tiny increase with Unreal. Very disappointing, I expected to atleast get a small increase with games and esp Quake 3 but got identical frame rates.

Oh well I've decided to keep my Kyro 2 instead so my GF2 will be getting sold asap!

K2=6699 3dmarks

All I can say is, very impressive!

11000 is a very good score!

I don't usually use benchmark's like 3dmark but it was on the cd which came with my gf2 so I thought what the hell.

I'm happy with my Kyro 2, it runs all of the games I have at over 60fps and that's the important thing.

My advice would be to wait it out. A V5-5500 is a sweet card that does just fine in the current crop of games, and quite excellent in most older games (drivers/tweaks/further advice available at VoodooFiles). The Radeon 2, for one, is not too far around the corner, as will be a &quot;souped-up&quot; GeForce 3 (Ultra/Pro/etc.). While you may not get any of these cards, prices of current &quot;first-tier&quot; cards (such as the Prophet 4500, GF 3, 64MB Radeon DDR, etc.) currently on the market should be a bit lower then.

It really depends on your cpu and what games you like playing?

If you can get one from a shop, buy it, try it out in your pc with the software you use and if you have problems or it doesn't perform as well as you had hoped then return it and get something else, that's the only way to know if it will be a good upgrade for you.

My Kyro 2 runs great on my PC which is hardly cutting edge even after my little upgrade. I can only comment on hardware I've used, I'm not the type of person who goes by second hand views. Everything I say is about things I've experienced myself. I had a geforce 2 mx and my kyro 2 is alot faster.

I've never had any driver related problems, probably because when I got my kyro 2 the drivers were alot more mature than the first generation drivers.

I have no complaints about my kyro 2, it's not the greatest video card ever released and it's not perfect, it is however very nicely priced and you'll have a hard time finding a video card which performs as well in it's price range. If you want the highest performance for your money then get a kyro 2, if you have more money than sense then get a geforce 3.

It's as simple as that!

NO
I just killed my V5 and bought a KII,not an upgrade,more of a sidestep. Give that V5 anouther 6 months service at least,by then we should be talking KIII and should be a total upgrade. You've got some of the best textures,colors and AA already,thou without a 1.4g + Oced you've prolly got some FPS issues. Unless it's unbearably slow or stops playing the games you want to play,ride that V5 like a rented mule.
