I have only been at my new job a very little while. I had to start out on 3-12 (midnight) since I was fresh blood. Well my number have been good and I won a shift bid. I'll be working 8-5 like a human being again!

I'll also be able to have my son full time again. I took him to his diabetes doctor and since his mom as been taking care of him, his health has really gone down the drain. I already talked to him and his mom and they both agree that it would be a good thing.

Life is good....life is good.

Id rather do 3-12, give you time in the morning to get crap done during the day and you get to avoid traffic.

Diabetes is a horrible disease and takes a good amount of self discipline to keep under control. It's sad to hear your child got it at such a early age. Cancer and diabetes should be two thinks stricken from this earth as fast as possible.

Good luck!

Aye, it is a shame that we are so unable to treat some of the more chronic diseases in the world. HS, RA, MS...sigh..

I'm actually grateful that he got it so young (he was 4 when he was DXD). Its now part of his life and not a huge deal to him.

The thing that happened was that while I was out of town, his mom let him take control of his diabetes. There is no way a 10 year old should have that much responsibility. His A1C numbers are out of control, he has high cholesterol and glaucoma. Luckily these are pretty easy to get back in line. But if we don't get them in line, tissue damage and other really bad things will start to happen very soon.

I can't wait to have real sponsitilities again.

A1C is Glycated Hemoglobin.

Important part about it is:

"For most people with diabetes, the A1C goal is less than 7. If the A1C number is less than 7, then blood glucose control is optimal. An A1C number higher than 8 means that there is a greater risk of developing eye disease, kidney disease, or nerve damage as a result of bad glucose control. Lowering your A1C number ? by any amount ? can improve your chances of staying healthy. If your number is higher than 8, ask your health care provider about changing your treatment plan to bring your A1C number down. "

I hadn't heard about that. I'd be interested to know how blood glucose levels relate to the A1C score. I guess I'll have to do some searching.

A1C is basically your diabetes score....but the higher the number, the worse you did. When I had my son full time, it was always around a 7. Now its over 9.

That lit a fire under my ass to take control of things. Maybe go back to gooddad?

My daughter got diagnosed with diabetes a bit over a month ago. They may not have tested her A1c because they knew it would be crap(she went to the hospital with blood glucose at 1009). Her sugar has been pretty good since we got out of the hospital, maybe they'll check A1c at the fall checkup.
