why would you get the 3500+ when you can just get a 3000+ and overclock it to fx-57 with that motherboard? also, why not go dual core, more future proof, everything will just be really smooth and feel fast. an X2 3800+ isnt much more expensive than that 3500+, and it usually overclocks to 2.5ghz. or, you can get an opteron 165 for even better overclocking, but the prices have gone up on them, and im not sure its worth it. everything else looks really good though.

I must agree, since your going with a venice 3800+ anyways just get a 3000+ which will most likely OC to 3800+ speeds with decent ram. Ive got a nonname brand (gigaram) and am rock solid at 2.30ghz, I can push to over 2.5 easily if I had some better ram or could figue out why my board won't post at a divider lower than 166. Though of course a overclock IS A PLUS and thus is not guarenteed, but i'd still just try a 3000+ and spend the rest on something else you'd like, possibly more HD space?

oh 3500+ for 299? yea man i'd really check into the 3000+ since its A LOT cheaper and should reach 3500+ speeds no problem. then when you wan't to upgrade to a dualcore it won't seem as bad as if you payed 300$ for the venice.

yea that too. but _if_ where me and i _was_ gonna get a 3500 venice then i'd go for a 3000+ instead and OC it.

Usually higher rated cpus will give lower OC's do to yield results, will it probley. But really man instead of paying 300$ for it i'd either wait for a dualcore or just get the cheaper 3000+, but thats just my opinion man. Also man you may want to look into a OEM which would be a new CPU just without heatsink/fan, then use the money you saved there to buy a better HS/fan combo and some Artic Silver5. This should help in OC'n some, plus you will know you have good cooling, and possibly a good cooler for future upgrades.

will the 3800 dual core be good for gaming (if i decide to get one now) as in will i still be able to play games maxed settings with my 7800GT and 2 gig ram and the (3800 dual core)?

the X2 3800+ is like 2 venice 3200+'s. so, a very very mild overclock, of 200mhz, will bring it up to 2 3500+'s. a 3000+ can handle any game, its the video card that is most important, and a 7800gt can certainly handle whatever you throw at it.

dc=dualcore, most games at the moment don't support dualcore so you won't see much of a difference either way though this may change in the future. with a 7800gt and 2 gigs you shouldn't have any problems running any games out right now maxed out regardless of what cpu you get.
