Just got a 2003 Envoy LOADED- and when I say loaded, this thing has gadgets I've never seen in a car before (it even has a freakin' voice recorder built into the roof!) with 27K miles. Was $29K, then $25K, then $22K, just picked it up for $18K (after tax/title/etc) with a $4400 trade in on my 1996 Jeep Cherokee.
If you can't afford to take advatage of the new car deals, consider a 1-3 year old GM car. They've really come down to scale with the discounts on their new vehicles. That price included a 3 yr warranty too (I guess that's part of the GM employee promo). It's really a great time to get a vehicle
On a side note, I saw an odd thing happen: some kid walked in wearing sandals, shorts, and a polo shirt with the collar up, and asked the dealership if they would buy his car outright. He didn't want to trade it in, just wanted cash. Who the heck goes to a dealer and asks them to buy their car?
