First job (if you count internships) and I elected to get my first paycheck in paper form rather than direct deposit. For shits and giggles.

All I can say is...holy fuck D: taxes

You usually get at least one papercheck prior to direct deposit always.

And my job does not offer direct deposit? Your point?

He stated "usually" which covers your, mine, his and hers. Don't be a troll.

he was the one trolling. I merely pointed out his ignorance. You are now encouraging him. I blame his next post on you.

You called him ignorant and blame his next post on me? LOL.

I read his statement and it wasn't even remotely a troll...yours was obvious.

Fuck this electronic check bullshit. It is just another way for the nanny state to keep an eye on you. What ever happened to cold hard CASH transactions? Back in the day, when our founding fathers were alive, you could pay someone in cash and they'd accept it. If our founders were alive today and tried to pay by cash, they'd be arrested and sent to jail.

Most jobs that I have worked, with direct deposit, require that the first check be paper and go to your house.

I would love to have electronic check. Fuck cash. I hate going to the bank once a week. The only reason you want cash is to avoid paying taxes and you know it.

I'm far too lazy to go to the bank to cash a check every week, or carry around a large amount of bills in my pocket and have to pay the correct amount rather than swipe a card.

At most I have like $30 for those few archaic places from the stone age who only take cash

Just go to payroll and have them adjust your dependents to 9999 and watch those taxes come due at the end of the year.
Fixed her up there for you.
Oh, and you HAVE to change your withholding to the correct number of dependents prior to the calendar end of year, lest your w-2 won't match your return and that will get flagged.
The IRS is on to this trick and it doesn't like it very much.
But you are FREE to do whatever you like, at least until the law catches up with you.

My daughter, now 17, got a job almost a year ago (still there today) and she said the same thing...it's much harder for her to spend her money earned than the money that was "once handed" to her.
Yeah, I went through the same thing. When I went to my parents house with some new tennis shoes on, my mom was pretty amused that I had to have cool $80 shoes when she was buying them, but now a crappy $25 pair works. Whoops

Wait till you get bonuses and they take 45%.

I have had the same thing happen when I have worked a large amount of overtime (in the past). The tax tables only project your "current" week (or two week) income for the entire year, so when you get a bonus or large overtime, the tables assume that you will make that amount each pay period for the entire year.

Assuming that you don't, you'll get much of it back (or lower what you owe) at tax filing.

Your name suits you well. Only 1 out of 4 of my jobs offered direct deposit for the first check. He was correct in saying the first check is USUALLY paper.

You're an idiot.

Grats. Just wait till you sign up for health care and see that sticker shock. Youll wish we had UHC and the tax increase would be less then what the insurance companies charge now on a percent basis
