Essentially through an incentive program at work, they can cover about $1400 in air fare. Thus I want to take advantage and take a trip. Prefer to go in January for all of January (Im in university full time and working full time as well for the last 1.5 year (year round) and decided its time for a break, Im still going to be in school during that month and will catch up when i get back)

But where should I go? I was thinking India for a month (since I'm half indian and never been there before) I would be travelling alone (got lots of family there so would be staying with them, although i want to travel around the country)

Where else would you all suggest? A family member suggested South Korea since I have a relative that just moved there.

I'm just a little weirded out by travelling alone, trying to get a family member or one of my friends to come along.

Where would you go? How would you spend your month?

Me, I'd probably go to Japan or New Zealand. Maybe the Philippines. Of course I go by all of those on my way back home so....

In January I would go to New Zealand or somewhere in Oceania / Southeast Asia. Australia's always a fun choice... Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan. I always recommend Europe for people looking where to go, but in Jan. it might be a bit chilly.

Paying for airfare? See how many times you can fly around the world in one month.

EDIT: Damn, they're only paying for $1400

I think you'll find that staying in a hotel for a month will cost a lot more than airfare unless you go someplace that is a lot cheaper than the US.

I think you should go to what you feel is the most exotic locale that you can imagine. It is easy to go to a place that you have a connection with (which is what I tend to do), although that is surely a fun time, it is also fun to go somewhere unfamiliar. Since your company is taking care of airfare and vacation time, I would take this opportunity to immerse yourself in something new and extraordinary.

Maybe they are trying to tell you something. Seriously though, I wouldn't leave the country. A month is really to long for a vacation anyways.

Ontario to Vancouver, see that, drive out to Victoria too, see Bouchart Gardens, 3 days.

Vancouver to Oahu, see that, watch North Shore surfing at Pipeline, Sunset beach, hit Polynesian Cultural Center, other sights, etc., 5 days.

(Or maybe Vancouver to Seoul. See Seoul 4 days.)

Oahu (or Seoul) to Nadi, Fiji, see that. (Over 50% of Fiji's population is from India, so there's your cultural connection), 8+ days. Boat out to some of the islands. Snorkle tropical coral heads, pick up vacationing Australian chicks, etc. Less expensive place so conserve $ here.

If you can bring yourself to leave Fiji, then Nadi to Aukland, see that, 6+ days. Tour all around, get yourself to the South Island if you can.

Aukland to Cairns, Oz. Tour all around, north to Port Douglas, out to snorkle Great Barrier Reef, boat the Daintree river rainforest, try to spot a duckbilled platypus in a creek, etc. 6+ days.

I would go to Europe for two weeks, come back home, and spend the rest of the month just relaxing at home and getting stuff done around the house.

I might go to Europe and backpack around but considering that the $/? is so poor these days, I probably vist SE Asia and Oceania. I have several friends from Australia and my boss so I would love to visit. Plus it would be summer down there so it would be warm!

And hire dirt bikes and head up to Cape York for 2+ days if you need to strech it out. Good times!
