Thanksgiving is a holiday. Last time I checked, Black Friday is not. :hmm:

I'll be working from home on an on-call basis. Hospitals don't close and stuff breaks.

I get it off...although my company is making it a floating holiday next year. Plan on spending the long weekend up in the mountains away from the ridiculousness that the day is.

I never thought about it, but whats thursday got to do with thanksgiving anyway?
Its not like Easter, religion and Sunday.
Thanksgiving should be on a Sunday, or at least on a Saturday.

Run on two issues:
Thanksgiving on a weekend, AND no more daylights saving time period!
Now who would vote against that?

Hell no. Why take a perfectly good vacation day on a Thursday/Friday and combine it with a weekend we already get off? Keep them separate so we get more days away from work. According to many countries, we already work more than we should.

it on outlook as a holiday, same as turkey day
same as veterans day and xmass and every other day we get off with pay

We always get Thurs and Friday off paid where I work. This year the plant is closing early so I get Wednesday off as well although I have to take vacation time for that. Family obligations ended up being scheduled the weekend before and after so the wife and I are leaving this wintery shit behind for a nice beach trip closer to the equator

The day after Thanksgiving is a paid holiday for a lot of places now. Just not in retail. Hell, you're lucky if you get Thanksgiving off if you're in retail now.

I work for a healthcare company so I am. Might take the morning off though to play in my friends' annual turkeybowl game.

Typically state and local governments follow the Federal holidays which only provides for Thursday off however school systems and private entities typically choose to stay open either Columbus Day or Veterans Day and make the Friday following Thanksgiving a day off as they realize people are traveling for this holiday.

im probably going to work. just depends how i feel that day.

we can work veterans day to have black friday off, however i was on vacation for the week during veterans day, so if i take off it will have to be PTO time. i'll probably come in though because it will be really quiet and i'll get stuff done, and my wife works so i'd just be sitting around the house.

but it just depends if i feel like it or not come friday morning.
