So those with the day off... whats the purpose? How do you celebrate/remember the man? I just think its stupid to get days off that are not taken for what they are intended... whether they be MLK day, Presidents day, Christmas... anything.
Most people do not celebrate or remember the reason for the day off. Most people just celebrate the day off.
I think Thanksgiving is sufficiently celebrated/remembered, though most people's knowledge of it is historically inaccurate.
Independence Day seems to be sufficiently celebrated/remembered.
New Years is clearly over-celebrated.
Personally, the only common holiday that I wish was celebrated/remembered more is Memorial Day (and, I guess Veterans Day - What is the difference?).
Rest of the days are not worth "celebrating" for political, historical or religious reasons (but I do appreciate the days off):
Martin Luther King
President’s Day
Labor Day
Columbus Day
Christmas
