I was surprised when I moved up to Canada how many racist people there are up here.
There are rednecks (for want of a better term) in every culture and country. Just ask some rural Canadian what they think about the Indians (Native Canadians? Indigenous Peoples?).
They call 'em "First Nations" up there, which is (a)A complete denial of reality, "Second Nations" would be more historically accurate, and (b)Stupid since Canada is also in the continent of North America, but since their entire national identity is "Canada != USA" they have to pretend to get offended by the word "American".
I think that's more something people in the US think than what the majority of Canadians do. Things is we just aren't very nationalistic people to begin with so the whole concept of "their entire national identity" if flawed since a hell of a lot of us don't really think much about our national identity.
