I need to build a workstation and am having some trouble figuring out which way I should go. I will be using the system for photo editing, desktop work, and intensive multitasking. Right now I am basically using a pumped up desktop computer, but I think the move to something higher end would really help me.
I am pretty sure that a single dual core processor would be right for me so I can save some money and limit heat production. I would prefer a AMD based system.
My needs are really simple- PCI-E, SATA, RAID1. Things like PCI-X and on-board sound would be nice but are not necessary. 12.0" x 9.6" (ATX) would be nice, but Ex ATX is ok too.
One thing to note, I have a lot of DDR400 (PC3200) desktop memory lying around. Will this be of any help? Is unbuffered non-ECC though.
Right now my top choice is the Asus K8N-LR, but I could use some help! I would be fine with s939 and don't see the need for AM2 right now.
Any suggestions? I am having a tough time differentiating between all the Tyan boards...
