I imagine ESPN will have coverage of US matches on a tape delay basis due to time differences.

I assume then that you are unaware that football (aka soccer) is the most popular sport on a worldwide basis, both in terms of playing and viewership? Besides, football is admirable for the high levels of skill and fitness required. The fact that there are no commercials/timeouts, etc., is a nice bonus too.

It's fixed! Brazil plays Turkey, China, and Costa Rica. What a pitful group. On the other hand, many new countries, and that's good. The traditional soccer powerhouses have been in constant decline.
