I brought my Kids from Korea to the US because I know for a fact that my kids will get a better education in the US than they would have in Korea. The educational system in Korea is stricter and has higher requirements but students have better exposure to more educational opportunities in US than in Korea.

would you say that the korean system excels in certain fields, but has less breadth compared to the american? because it really seems like asian countries are doing really good in math compared to the US, but perhaps not so good in humanities type things.

kids in middle school are required to memorize all the musical scales including the minor scales. tell me honestly, what is the point of memorizing that kind of information.

Isn't there a sort of bias for these tests? It doesn't represent the general intellegence of the entire country. Unless these IQ tests were randomly distributed around the country. So we're looking at the 'educated' section of population. So even if a country is poor or whatever, they may still score well if the 'educated' ones are treated well..

I believe the research has shown that there's a low correlation (compared to other factors) between IQ and schooling. I'll see my old texts to see if I can back that up. Anyways yeah these results do show differences in genetic intelligence which is why whenever a report like this comes out it's always so controversial. This line of thinking will put you in line with Hitler and his "master race" idea...
There's the saying: "The only thing an IQ score measures if your ability to take IQ tests" or something like that... That's why you'll see high scoring people working at the supermarket and vice versa.

Also, I'm surprised India wasn't higher on the list. In college most of the smartest people I knew were from there - but that's probably because there's a billion (?) people there and they send their finest to the US...
