Here's my experience with this deal, for those considering placing an order.
For those considering this deal, remember that if you get a bad key, and you RMA with Consumer Depot, you may wind up getting *another* bad key from them in the next package they send. Their Terms and Conditions clearly state that you will not receive a monetary refund if they send you a defective product and do a return... you will have to choose between a replacement (which, again, could easily contain an invalid key), or store credit. Shipping charges and the time you spend waiting will add up after a while. On my order, I sent a series of emails detailing how, with the open-box ones, they could easily and quickly check the Auth Keys on Blizzard's site prior to sending out the product to customers, to save customers from having to deal with a lot more time and effort spent to resolve bad keys later, and their replies suggested to me that they had no interest in doing that.
In the end I wound up being frustrated and unhappy with their customer service, and I won't be shopping there again. On the bright side, Blizzard did send me a valid key when I followed the proper channels with the invalid key I had received (and did not charge me the $10 fee since it was within 30 days), so if you do get such a key, you will probably still have a good deal if you follow Blizzard's key replacement procedure, if you don't mind the extra effort, shipping fee to Blizzard, and time spent waiting.

I don't understand. The main cost of MMORPGs is the monthly payment. Why wouldn't you just pay extra cash for something less risky?
Ah, good point. Didn't think about that.Originally posted by: Enkidu
I will see if I can explain. If you already bought one account, and you just need a second account and not even the software cd's, you don't want to spend another $50 bucks basically for a cd-key. You don't want any manuals, cd's, packaging, etc. That is one scenario where this would be a better deal.
Then again, everyone here has a right to decide whether or not a risky deal is a hot deal.Originally posted by: Enkidu
I am sure there are others. Besides, if you are willing to throw an extra $30 bucks away, why are you even coming to a hot deals site?

Just got mine. It's obviously a return from Best Buy and it's been opened and such. No 10 day guest pass, everything else was there though. CD key did not work...already been used. Just send Consumer Depot an email, hopefully they'll turn around and send out another copy.

Could everyone who received the item in non-working condition please send me a PM? I'm extremely pissed at consumer depot for screwing so many of us. This is their problem, not blizzard's. I refuse to let them get away with this. I've just sent my final email to them, and if I do not receive a reply by Monday, I will be contacting a lawyer friend to threaten a class action. So obviously the more people I can get together, the more serious this matter will look in consumer depot's eyes. At this point I really don't care about my $27. It's the principle of the matter that counts, and if I have to strong arm consumer depot into doing the right thing, I will.
