You do know they toned down MC right? It was 10x harder when it first came out but too many guilds were failing at getting anywhere. My guild was doing it during that time period (as well as attempting to do Onyxia) and we put a lot of time into extremely hard encounters. That was back when multiple Onyxia attempts would cause you to fall through the floor / her to reset / etc.

Server: Warsong (PvP)
Character: Level 60 Undead Warlock

My guild was allied with another strong guild on the server, but after our second downing of Ragnaros (pre-patch) the guilds separated and now run MC within their our own respective guilds. We haven't killed Ragnaros since he was patched and every time we've tried to attempt BWL the lag has been unplayable (and the instance server usually crashes). We still farm MC/Onyxia once a week and I've managed to acquire 8/8 felheart and a staff of dominance for my lock.

In approximately one month (when my prepaid time runs out) I will be quitting, however. Game just doesn't offer anything interesting for me anymore. Blackwing Lair is too buggy, PvP/BG is a huge bore/disappointment, etc.

Yes, I do. My guild was running MC thoroughly prior to all the nerfs. At this point, MC is an absolute joke and so far I'm pleased with BWL.

60 UD Priest on Ner'Zhul. Done most of MC (no rag) and i haven't been able to raid to kill the first bosses of BWL yet.

Game is starting to slow down. Now i'm farming BG for Frostwolf Rep. and leveling an alt druid on a PvE Server.

I'm not sure what you mean by thoroughly. I believe, prior to the nerfs, the farthest anyone had made it was roughly to Garr. Most guilds were stuck on the first pull because it was bugged and would bring 3 mobs. Others got stuck at Magmadar back when he was 10x stronger than his weak ass is now. My guild managed to down Magmadar twice before they revised MC. So if by thoroughly, you mean Garr, grats in being in one of the best guilds at the time.

To be honest, I'm not sure where we were when the first nerfing patch went in, if you can remember the date then I can easily tell you as we have the dates on all of our server firsts recorded. I do know we were never more than 1-3 weeks, at maximum, behind the server wide firsts, and sometimes it was only a matter of days. What guild/server are you?

I'm a member of www.obviousassassin.com (kinda NSFW), a Sargeras horde guild. We have a good handful of the server firsts. To get an accurate date on the nerfs I'd have to do some browsing, so maybe I'll check tonight from home, wouldn't want to hit any NSFW links on my guilds website / etc.

I would say the problem is that the game is mostly greed-based. PvE encounters are not particularly enjoyable in and of themselves because with a good group they are either too easy or with a bad group too frustrating.

PvP in the game is a joke, IMO.

So all that leaves is people grinding the same instances over and over for their blues and purples. Once they have them, there's not much left.

Skace, I checked your guild's website and I can tell you we dropped Rag a little over a month before you guys, but that's about all I can say, I have no idea where the other kills lie so I don't know what to say about the patch date relationship to my guild's MC progress. Who knows.

So all that leaves is people grinding the same instances over and over for their blues and purples. Once they have them, there's not much left

Grinding instances isn't too bad with 40 people doing it at the same time, we can still have fun and it's more of a social outing than grinding. In addition, there's no way you'll have all your top class epics, the way Blizz has things going all your class epics are barely available for you to gain and the only way you could possibly gain them is if you were in a top guild and for some reason they decided to let you have every piece that drops that you needed. Otherwise, you've got quite a bit of work to do before you 'have them.' I can't comment much on PvP, being a Paladin on a PvE server I rarely, rarely, PvP. However, I've started a Priest on a PvP server so I can see how that goes.

Cheers for having the will power to quit and for having your priorities straight

I played at launch on Bleeding Hollow but got bored and frustrated. I quit after less than a month. Started up again a bit over 2 weeks ago with a new character and server (Icecrown). Hit 28 with my NE Hunter last weekend. Starting to get a little bored with the quest repetition, but I'll probably keep playing if only to explore new areas. I'm (purposely) not in a guild, so I can take my time with my character and not feel like I have to keep up with everyone else.

FoH? Nice. We got Vael to 3% last night then bit it like a buncha nubs. Going to have to wait a week to finish him I guess. Nasty when the MT gets BA.

Warlocks/Druids are usually the rarest classes in any raid, but their gear has the same chance to drop as any other classes. Since I play a warlock, it was not all that difficult to get all of my felheart set.

You might say "Well now you need to get nemesis from BWL", but I don't feel the same. Nemesis set is weaker, IMO, than Felheart. Nemesis may get reworked but once you realize that the only thing keeping you in the game is your greed for items, it kind of takes the charm out of the game (if it ever had any). I've had a lot of fun with my guildies but honestly the drudgery of the game has just become too much.

If you are still enjoying it then continue to play it, but it doesn't appeal to me anymore.

Ya, grinding and farming my way through instances was all WOW boiled down to for me as well. I'll be playing again this autumn with my wife (again) and her son and a bunch of his friends. Going horde (furthest we took horde was lvl 20 in the beta) so it should be fun

I used to play a LOT back in the winter and early spring. (Quit in April, though started playing again about a month ago, much less now however).

58 Human Pally on Mannoroth (PVP)
40 Gnome Mage on Mannoroth (PVP)
15 Human Priest on Mannoroth (PVP)
48 Night Elf Druid on Suramar (PVE)
22 Human Rogue on Suramar (PVE)
16 Human Warrior on Suramar (PVE)
I also had a 15 or 16 Shamen on a server, but I forget which one ... Shammy was a cool class, but none of my friends IRL play on that server any more.
Haven't tried Warlock or Hunter, but I may give it a go if I get bored.

I no longer play on Mannoroth (since April). When I do play now, it's on Suramar. Druid is so far my favorite class to play.

Just bought the game, waiting until the weekend to install it as I have some technical issues to work out with my machine first. Any advice for someone about to start playing, other than returning the game before opening it?

No advice necessary Steven, the game is as user friendly as they get. At most you should peruse the Guide part of the official website but I'd advice against even that so you see as much as possible in game for the first time.

If you've played pc games before, you'll pick this up in no time flat. And continue picking it up for months
