World of Warcraft - 'Minimum sustained uptime' guarantee, does it exist?

Hey all, I recently was lucky enough to get a copy two days ago, but I haven't been able to register in all that while. For one reason or another the authentication thing is borked, and even after I called nothing happened. When I called about it, they say to 'wait'. Is this normal for this game to be down this much?

I've got one month free I think to test it out, but does anyone know if there is something like a "Minimum Sustained Uptime" clause/guarantee in the EULA to counter all that other "we own your computer" part? I know that is standard business practice for hosts of websites and rack servers to guarantee downtime won't exceed a certain amount.

I am worried I'll sign up for the long haul and it will end up the servers (and forums, etc) will be down whenever I have time to play. I am semi-busy as is, so if it is frequently down it might be $1 a time if I divide the monthly fee by times I think I'll be free (guestimate).

Can anyone here who has this game comment? I'm searching all the documents and web pages I can at the moment, and I haven't found a thing. I can't seem to get onto their site at the moment, it's down too.

WoW does not have a 'Minimum sustained uptime' guarantee.

I suggest getting on the month-to-month payment plan if you're worried about the downtime leading you to cancel your account.

Blizzard has been very good about giving extensions for downtime. The uptime is not guaranteed and they don't have to do it, but they have been giving them out pretty freely so far.

I have been playing for over a month and never encountered any downtime or queues. Then again, I work full time and am not on one of the higher populated servers. And to answer your question, I believe you are SOL for downtime, but Blizzard has been pretty good about giving free time to offset the down hours on the busy servers.

maybe on a case by case basis, but only if you gripe to them one on one.

Their system has been borked now for at least 2 weeks and they are giving 2 free days.

BIG freaking whoop.

Every day they crash more than 2 times or take *scheduled* maintenance less than 24 hours notice, they should compensate you at least with 1 free day.

Last night they had posted *scheduled* maintenance starting at 6 pm PST. They posted the note at 5:57:38.

Yep, thats right, 2 freaking minutes before they brought down the servers they posted that it was scheduled. Bullshit.

Pick a lower populated server and you will be fine. I play on Aggramar and I haven't had any issues...but I still benefit from the free time extensions.
