Great advice, once your life is not dicdated by a MMORPG, you can let posting on ATOT dictate your life

I have a 43 Mage, 33 Rogue, and 26 Warrior. The Mage is my favorite, however Blizz totally f'ed it up in some recent patched and caused horrible bugs that prevent me from playing a frost mage correctly. Come to think of it, there are a TON of bugs in this game, it is amazing that Blizzard has so many paying account and so many gamebreaking bugs in the game. I do not want new game content, I want bug fixes
I don't think the amount of total posts one has is relevant.

No wonder you didn't have time to play a game!

==========

I play on Icecrown and have a L32 Pally (Herb/Alchemy), L17 Pally (Tailor/Enchanter), and a L12 Warrior (Mining/Blacksmith)... Although, I never really play the Warrior.

I just started an Orc Hunter on Hyjal, he's L5. I started him Herb/Alchemy, but I'll probably change that to skinning/leatherworking.

I've never really played a MMORPG before, and I'm in love with this game. I have no problem with the monthly charge, since it's actually saved me money overall. Since this game is so expansive, I have had no need to purchase other games. (Well, I did pick up Forza to feed my racing urge. ) In the couple of months since I started playing, I would've typically picked up another two or three games instead.

Played a warrior to level 60, every thing was good until I tried out the teleport hack and got banned. Then I bought the game again and had a custom bot (i refused to replay the game from start, I enjoy pvp) going and got back to 60 (warrior again) in less than 10 calendar days. When I hit 60, I was able to buy my epic mount. In about 1.5 months of playing this game, I had acquired about 4000g and bought just about anything I wanted in the AH. unfortunately, the server i was in is low pop and there aren't too many high end stuff to buy. Two weeks ago, after accumulating a crap load of gold in my account, a mod was paging me and I didn't respond because I was botting and so I again, was banned. WoW is w/o a doubt a blast to play but going into the game, I told myself I would control the amount of time (i believe i am very discipline) I play. It didn't work out that way and I started missing my regular workouts, basketball w/ friends, and I always ended up staying up a little later than I wanted to because the 30 minutes instance endeded taking 3 hours. The moral of the story is that WoW is fu'in fun but if you want to have a decent life outside of it, dont' get into it. :> My g/f was happy I got banned the first time and then became sad when I started it up again and now she again is thrilled I got banned the 2nd time. I most likely will not go a 3rd time.

Sure, if you prefer paying real cash for in-game items to earning them by playing...

Bah! Everyone I know that bought EQ2 first before WoW ended up playing WoW. I personally haven't had a crack at it. I have heard the graphics are very good but my friends that played it said it was very system intensive and there was way more maintenance instead of gaming. But that's all hearsay because I haven't tried it yet. It may well be a great game but I'm having WAY too much fun to try it now.

All the guys I play with (in my guild) are ex-EQ2 guys, and they CONSTANTLY rave about how much better this is than EQ2. I don't know, personally, but that's what they tell me.

Seriously, don't even bother. The customer rape Sony is responsible for makes this completely irrelevant, only a) a hopeless addict b) a child or c) a moron would put up with them. I was a) till about 18 months ago.

I guess you have never heard of IGE or PA. Both run rampant in WoW. I sold gold in WoW and will sell my account soon.

SOE has made the leap to allowing player auctions, which I can't say I approve of. BUT, in an effort to NOT turn this into a Station Exchange debate, I would like to say that SE blows and is a terrible idea.

The rest of you Nay Sayers about EQ2 riddle me this. I was able to get to level 35 in under 3 days of gameplay, 90% of that solo. For me, WoW presents no challange. WoW is like a MMO trainer. It's all solo, the danm thing discourages grouping, and most of the children on there act as if they are 15. Nope, not for me. If I can get to level 35 under 3 days solo, it's not for me.

Aggro was a joke in that game. I still don't get it. Not a single mob assists a fleeing mob, and yet some will assist mid fight. Not to mention aggro range varried on two of the same mob. Kiting was ridiculasly easy.

Ill say it again

Sure I know of IGE & PA. There's obviously a huge difference between taking measures against the sale of in-game items/money and officially endorsing it; can you honestly not see this? How long till they start creating items & money out of thin air & selling them?

You got to level 35 and think you know a damn thing about WoW? There's plenty of incentive to group, especially as level and advancement increase.

The problem with WoW for me is its rabid focus on PvP; actually it's why I quit. While I can't really fault Blizzard for tailoring the game for the majority of its playerbase, they could have fixed important high-end PvE bugs which PvPatch 1.4 introduced before working on BGs, and they could have implemented PvE-only servers; enough people wanted this to have made this feasible. Instead they restated that they have absolutely no intentions of opening any new realms with a new set of alternative rules.

Till Vanguard I guess I'm going MMORPG-less. No way I'd ever pay Sony another cent, I've had enough of their crap; login nagscreens, in-game advertising, encouragement of sale of items & money for real cash, censorship of the forums to the point that if enough people have a problem with the game they'll get rid of the forums rather than fix it, "accidentally" double-billing customers and leaving it up to them to stop payment on their credit cards... god, shall I go on? WoW has its problems and is tailored to a certain crowd - it's not my thing to the point that I quit - but compared to Sony and their crap it's a shining diamond.

Sounds to me like Sony already had their chance. I think Blizzard has a good seed that if given time will blossum further. I'm already very happy but then again I loved Diablo... there is a thread on AT that is pitching GW vs. WoW and everybody that doesn't like GW is stating Diablo Clone so I'd probably like that too. I like the fact that WoW lets you game and not spend so much time on the maintenance side of your char. Sure there are all the tradeskills but most of your time is spent actually playing the game versus getting READY to play the game. I remember my experience with EQ1 and I spent so much time running back to my corpse or trying to find a spot with a decent group that wasn't already camped took way too much of my already narrow gaming window....and then getting a decent item in EQ1 seemed so far off. I like instant gratification and I get that EVERY time I log in to play WoW..... I get the Diablo type drops and constant action.

Played SWG for about 6-8 months. Moved, had no time/desire to play so I quit outright. Some guildmates shared my house/items and I gladly let them take what they wanted.

I've been playing WoW since December. It has been a lot of fun, especially since they implemented the PVP Honor (heh ironic term) system. Battlegrounds look to be a hoot, too.

MMO's have been good for me since my wife and I work opposite shifts often (I'm in a 24/7 tech support dept). Lately though I have been exploring my creative side (after a long hiatus) and play WoW less and less.

EDIT:

I collected mount money by selling Big Iron Fishing Poles, back when was in my lvl 30's. You check the lobster traps off the coast of Desolace. Sometimes I would find 2-3 within 15 minutes. Those suckers sold for 10g each!

I'm currently looking for a way to earn epic mount money, since lately I've been PVP'ing and spending gold instead of earning it :\

At this rate I'll have epic mount money by ...oh...2006???
