Why? Seriously, why? Is your life different today than it was yesterday? Does other people accomplishing something reflect on you just because you live in the same general geographic area?

Oh lord. Lighten up, Francis.
People like sports. People like to support teams they like.

nope. and even before the result last night. it was the first time in any American pro-sport league where the first 6 games of a championship series were won by the road team. ...basically NBA and Hockey included. NFL doesn't count.

If any NFL team managed to win 6 straight road playoff games in a single year that would be a hell of a lot more impressive than this.

Lol your hardon for sports teams is still showing a chubby.

Watching a disappointing series doesn't mean that I get emotional and cry when they lose or cheer up and down the street when they win. Christ bud, a team name that has your city name in it "won" a championship series.

Now go be a good little peasant consumer and buy a bunch of useless shit and prance up and down the street as if YOU did something and they are YOUR players.

Why was it a disappointing series? It was pretty damn awesome. Last night was great, and I actually found myself pulling for Houston for some reason, because Greinke was light out. I was actually a bit sad when they pulled him and the next pitch got him the ND. ...but then it was fine. Nats were phenomenal the whole playoffs. 5-0 in elimination games? ...that's a lot of those for a single playoff run.

Yea, it's the nature of it, dammed if you do and dammed if you don't, also a lot of baseball can be just luck, several times the Astros had men on base and solid contact was made but they were all"atom" balls, right at a Nat's defender, a few feet either way it falls and 2 runs score.

Yeap. In game 6 a ball bounced right off the top of the 1st base bag to Zimmerman. Even he sighed relief as he caught it and stepped on the bag knowing damned well that 99.999% of the time if a ball hits a bag, it's going to ricochet wildly, and that would have cost a run. There's a lot of luck in baseball - a millimeter or nanosecond different and whole things play out in an entirely different manner.

It was a GREAT series from start to finish. Two very evenly matched teams. Great moments throughout. It's was entirely what the fall classic is all about.

That's the part I don't get. How is that supporting the team? You make the owner richer and you look like a sad bandwagon jumper, but "the team" doesn't notice.

not only are there not enough potential games for any team to make that happen, the SB in the modern era has only ever been neutral. ....it could definitely be a "home game," but that's just a factor of unusual circumstance. Even then, it is unlikely any actual fans of these teams will get to attend the game, because tickets are reserved for CEOs, friends of CEOs, and celebrities promoting new TV entertainment series on the broadcasting network for the game.

...I think the earliest games that GreenBay played were in Lambaugh though, right?

So you got the point without getting the point. As long as you got there somehow, that's the important thing.

Yeah Zim's face on that was priceless.

This Nats team is arguably the most resilient team in professional sports to date. And there are stats to back that up too. I don't think any team in history earned it as much as they did.

It's called being part of something bigger. Sports bring together people of all races, religions, political views, classes, etc. It creates a bond between strangers that would otherwise not be there. There aren't many things that can do that.

It is fun to root and cheer for something for years and to finally be able to witness the highest goal that is achievable is simply fun and emotional. To know how hard those guys work to get there and see them finally reach the goal that they have been dreaming of since they were a child playing sports with their buddies in the neighborhood.

I have memories of this past month hanging out with buddies and family that we otherwise wouldn't have had a reason to gather for, that will be with me the rest of my life. I remember exactly where I was when the Caps won 2 years ago and it's etched in my mind as one of those memories I will never forget. Similar to being on many of my vacations that I can still walk through in my head, that happened 15+ years ago.

It's pretty sad and pathetic that some people can't see that. It's okay to not like it yourself, but to not understand it is the pathetic and sad part.

But hey, have fun telling everyone how much you don't care about something by posting in a thread about it.

Once they beat the Brewers I was cheering for them. Ironically that was one of their closest games of the post season. And if you toss Yelich in the lineup, it may have ended differently (woulda, shoulda, coulda). I'm a huge fan of Greinke though - always been a great pitcher, even better personality and person it seems. So with him pitching last night it was win-win. I didn't mind who won that game. Love Max. Love Verlander and Altuve. Soto is good (going to be great) but is still a punk kid. Lots of likable players on both teams. Nat's turn this time though. Again, it was a great great series (I'm a baseball nerd)

lolwut? no one thinks you have a point.

is it that what you propose is "more impressive" on the grounds that it is actually impossible?

Do you know what impressive means?

Dude - don't mess with his big brain. He's better than us. He is not a man to be trifled with, He is above enjoying pleb things like sports. Except he comments on them on online forums for some reason.

Yeah while I didn't know much about the Astros until the WS, they seem like a good group of guys. That dude apologizing after the game for holdin the bat through first base was all class.

It's funny seeing the Nats because it is a bunch of old dudes and really young dudes. There are hardly any middle-of-the-pack guys age wise lol.

I LOVE seeing when Eaton or Kendrick hits a homerun, and they show them driving their cars in the dugout next to eachother. That's my favorite celebration of all time.

This is up there as my favorite moment of the entire run. They had never gotten past the NLDS in their history and were in extra innings against the best team in the NL. And then Howie Kendrick comes through with a grand slam.

I just LOVE this video how it is the raw video and just has the camera panning on him the whole time. His reaction after he hits it is just incredible, and he knows that it's going to be a home run.

I can't make it to the parade on Saturday because I have a wedding to go to

I went to a store this morning to get some gear and man that shit was already cleaned out. But they said they are getting stuff delivered like hourly today lol.

Caps, then Mystics, and now Nats ... in less than 2 years. Definitely not used to this as a DC sports fan.
Did any stores open last night after the win?
I remember Dicks opening up some stores after the Cubs won in 2016.

Yeah. The employee at Modell's said they had been open since midnight. I know the Dicks near me was open immediately after the Caps won the Stanley Cup. I was down in DC after that win though so I couldn't go. Last night I watched in my home theater but was too tired to go anywhere.

One thing I did pick up on was Cole's anger at not being put into the game in relief, I get that Harris has been great, but Cole's a legit Cy Young contender although there's now way to predict how he would have handled coming out of the pen late in the game.
