Pearl Harbor?

Bingo!

WW2 = done 60 years ago = history

WW3 = not over yet

People don't appreciate Hollywood is trying to cash in on a tragedy and war that's still going.

I don't know if I'd call it WW3, but it certainly aint over, and thus I agree.
It's too early.

There were Pearl Harbor movies that came out the following year. Give me a break.

And those were too soon, also. You proved the point that film makers want to cash in on tragedy.

For some reason I also feel that it might just be some more propaganda. Either way I agree with JackBurton, except I might watch it just to see how the film is executed and what it's really about. Who knows maybe I'll get a laugh at how pathetically low Oliver Stone is for making such a movie, or maybe shed a tear at realizing that maybe he actually made the movie with his heart.

it was with his heart.. it was a very reserved Oliver Stone movie... very somber and heartfilled. as it should be. it was done exactly the way it should have been done.

and the ending? the movie isn't as much about the actual attacks as it is the effects of fear of loss on the families of the two PAPD officers. so for that matter, its worth watching.

sure, he may be cashing in (or most likely, the studio itself cashing in)... but the families and the people involved all seem to agree it was a good thing to have the movie made. i don't care if some people think its too early, obviously the ones hit hardest don't think its too soon. WTC is a story worth retelling, as is obvious from another thread, not everyone even remembers the date and/or year. if you think its too early to be made.. fine don't go watch it, but know the real families of the two officers, and the two officers themselves, were present on the set. and the rescuers on the real event were the extras who rescued in the movie. they all were able to handle it and said they were glad to be involved.

and one side story that I really loved and touched me (and hit close to home and reminded me of... myself) was this man who was an ex-marine and is really religious. he wears his BDU's and becomes a freelance rescuer, of sorts. that was touching.
the way the event touched everyone is apparent in the movie and is what the movie is really about.... how humans still have good left in them, and in the event of evil, will come together and aid complete strangers.

I already saw it in back in 2001 when it was on the news. I don't need to see it again with a lot of hollywood cheese/melodrama thrown in.

The truth is when you do a movie like this you cant use any big name actors. Just watching the trailer with nicholas cage being all dramatic just seems to cheapen the whole thing for me. So no matter how good the movie is I wont watch it.

Too Soon plus terrorism is still occurring, Hollywood should wait like 10 to 20 years.

I dont want to see it. I dont want to be reminded that vividly of what happened.

I know one of the actors in the movie though. I'm at least a little curious to see how he did in the movie.

I know you probably talking about the "war on terror", but I still thought this was amusing as if 9/11/01 was the beginning of terrorism and that there will be an end date of terrorism within any amount of time. Anyway, the movie seemed to do well enough and it got pretty good reviews.

For the past five years I have been inculcated with 9/11 from the media thus I don't feel the need to spend two more hours reliving it at Hollywood's gain.

All of those happened way back in the 1950s, so it's ok to make hilarious movies about them now, since enough time has passed.

possibly because so few ppl care? this may sound horrible, but only ppl iin the new york area lost anyone. so they'll go see it to see what it was like for the fireman. the rest of the US? i doubt they care. no one's going to make a movie about Katrina. and even iof they did, it would never earn any money.

Jesus Christ. Every sentence in that post was dumber than the one preceding. I don't even know where to start.

Not trying to diminish the loss the families experienced, but isn't FIVE YEARS enough time already? I'm over it, and I want my simple, easy, no-BS flights back. I love to fly, but I'm self-grounded, because I refuse to deal with the BS security protocols. I'm also likely to get even more harassed, because I'm one of the "brown people" (half-Mexican).

Oh yea, and I always knew we'd get a movie out of this, I called it about 15 minutes after the second tower fell. I was still kinda in shock a little bit, but I still called it

I think it's to soon, a lot don't though.

But had it been 10 or more years after then it might have been a lot more well received IMO.
