FYI, the whole bacon thing is getting old, really fast.

BS, bacon is awesome, i have some every morning, and after all those years it is one of the few foods I can eat everyday and never get tired of it

By putting Ketchup in the list and putting Pizza on 2 they clearly show they have no clue what they are talking about anyway.

it's REAL pizza. pizza in italy is not pizaa in america. it's delicious.

ketchup is stupid, yeah.

and most of the mexican things are stupid, since mexico doesn't have dishes, just ingredients (chicken, beef, 'fish', veggies, corn and flour tortillas). saying 'taco' is like saying 'sandwich.'

I tend to agree, but I think there are valid arguments for both (and I absolutely despise ketchup)

the point about ketchup, is that people who have zero taste can use it to enjoy things they will never like. Of course, they only like ketchup, I don't know why they don't just eat ketchup.

as for pizza...well, it's always good. it's history is what to do with "trash, throwaway food," and as such, you end up creating something wonderful out of leftovers. it's a rather excellent application of food.

I'm astonished, though, that saurkraut isn't on that list, or wtf...some type of bread? these are the two most important foods in the history of human civilization, and remain quite awesome.

The list shows where the food originated from so America would not be what it listed as.

they listed:

"French toast, Hong Kong."

so no, it's not about where it originated, but about the best style of the dish (in their estimation).

also, wagyu beef for steak instead of any thing from USA. Wagyu is still corn fed, though. ....I think.

Yeah I know people who swear by it too, mostly Asian. Guess my taste buds aren't refined enough to appreciate it.

It took me many, many years to be able to eat more than 2 or 3 pieces of sushi at a time (i hate fish, for the msot part), but it is goddamn delicious.

it's almost a perfect food.

also, it's all about the rice. Fish is such a minor part of sushi.

But it's very different in HK than the original recipe from France. I mean, poutine is basically french fries.

If they said something like a western BBQ burger, then yeah I'd put that in the US.

Korean Short Ribs wrapped in lettuce with rice and vegetables.

Any meat marinated with soy sauce, sesame oil, green onions, Garlic, is pretty darn good. Even helps chicken. Add this to chicken carrats potatoes onions and just boil/simmer till tender.

is that a 'dish'? it looks like someone got some salmon from the deli and threw it on some ice. enjoy.

edit: and there's a booger.

I took that in Vancouver at a fairly upscale sushi place in the neighbourhood I used to live in. Caught fresh wild pacific sockeye, flash frozen and then allowed to thaw out to just below room temperature. I could eat this stuff all day long if it wasn't so expensive.

That booger is wasabi.

If I had to choose one single meat to eat for the rest of my life, it would be sockeye salmon. You can eat it raw, seared on the outside, grilled (crispy bbq salmon skin is the best thing ever. better than bacon), and you can smoke it. It's so versatile and tastes wonderful however you choose to prepare it.

Costco had some fresh, wild sockeye salmon for sale the other day...I almost bought some until I saw the transparent worm moving around in the package. Makes me think twice about sushi.

I know, but he mentioned that the dishes where listed as where they originated from, and I'm saying that is not the case.

French Toast did not originate in Hong Kong. They adapted it to their own thang.

If there were some other type of burger in some country that surpassed a US hamburger, then I think they would list that for the country...but no one eats hamburgers outside of the US.

Using bacon as a response to everything is irritating. But a list of the 50 most delicious foods which doesn't include bacon? Yeah, that list is bullshit.

it is kind of weird. Bacon is so preposterously good that most consider it "cheating" when you include it in a dish.

either that's why it isn't on the list, or why it's omission is so glaring (seems to be the same justification for ketchup--seriously, everybody loves bacon. Even godless vegetarians)

Where the shit is schwarma?

yeah, no shit?

:hmm:

is this an anti-muslim list? some of the best food anywhere...

well, they do have kabobs on the list. that's close enough.

I was miffed when they listed "Texas BBQ pork." that makes absolutely no fucking sense.

First:
Texas BBQ = briscket. beef. I guess they'll do pork, but they know beef. they aren't the pork people.
And if you're going to do BBQ, you do the original, damn it! You do NC-style pulled pork. It destroys any kind of saucy ribs.

But then later, and way ahead of "Texas BB pork ribs (whatever that means)" they listed the Kulau pig or whatever, which is essentially how we BBQ pig the original way. so...that counts. :\

With sushi grade fish they flash freeze it to kill all the parasites. Also, the sushi chef would be handling the fish himself and would see anything.

Most I've never had, and many I never would (I don't do seafood or spice, PERIOD). Therefore the list is mostly crap to me.

CNN thinks that the GERMANS invented the friggin Hamburger??? This list IS total crap.

Hamburgers were just meat patties until some genius from New Haven, Connecticut decided to put them between two slices of toasted white bread.

And Massaman Curry as #1??? I tried it... it wouldn't even make my top 50.
