Yes ... same premise ... R6 is completely realistic game taking place in Vegas against terrorists while GoW is in a fantasy world where there are humanoid aliens that you are fighting against ...

EDIT: we are taking this thread way off topic, no need to continue on with our different tastes that we obviously have on different games.

TAKE IT BACK ... TAKE IT BACK!!!! :disgust:

:brokenheart:

nope I wont.. it was a boring repetitve VERY short game..

R6 vegas trumps it in every aspect..

DWACS!! :| :| :|

(Die With A Chain Saw)

You are just playing with the wrong people if you find it boring and repetitive

um 4 on 4 is pathetic BS..

try 8 on 8 in R6.. and with MUCH better modes.. much better single player.. much better story... ..
just a flat out better game.. the cover system in GoW sucks.. it was done 10x better in R6.. the weps are better the maps are 6x bigger...

sorry man I dont want a shooter with training wheels on it.. I was able to beat gears in less than 5 hours.. and the multi player held my attention for less than 2 hours before it was a snooze fest.

like i said, you weren't playing with the right people if multi was a snooze fest.

4v4 = perfect size for multiplayer IMO. i am not big on 8v8 games (i hated big team battle in halo 2) and even 6v6 is pushing it for me. i hate big maps and i hate battlefield games too.

i also dont like r6 because it's another fps, i'm sick of fps. i havent played it but part of the demo. the demo was enough to turn me off of that game, and i didn't even get inside the casino on the demo.

WOW! :Q
Thats about the second or third dumbest thing I've ever read on Anandtech.
And I've been here for three years now, seen many a nef and troll running through.

Since you're INSANELY ignorant I feel like I should try to enlighten you just a little.
We get enjoyment out of playing about 3 times the library and 5 times the variety of video games that the console lovers know about.
Every game that the console lover believes to have a unique feature or new idea has been attemped long since on the home computer and with much better results.

And please dont quote sales records for me. Having seen what goes on in movie theaters and on TV it is blatently obvious what kind of entertainment the average American consumer seems to find enjoyable.
That console game sales outdo computer games only cements my opinion.
Holy misinterpretation Batman!

I remember when they tried to sell us the Neo Geo for $750.
I spotted 2 of these on the shelf at Target today. It doesn't seem like they're going anywhere.

Well, Sony may not have lost exclusivity with MGS4 but they did just lose it with Virtua Fighter 5 (fixed).

Tecmo's Dead or Alive series is about to get some serious competition for the king of fighters' throne on Xbox 360 in the form of Virtua Fighter 5, previously a PS3 only title.

Hopefully, the fact that VF is spreading out on multiple platforms will give the DOA series a much needed kick up the arse. But Sega's legendary beat 'em up franchise has taken a few knocks of its own over the last few years. Maybe it's just that the genre as a whole has gone as far as it can?

From what Sega is saying, the 360 version will be pretty much the same as the PS3 version. A release date has been penned in for summer '07 on both PS3 and 360.

"The Virtua Fighter series from Sega has one of the most prestigious histories in video games," said Jeff Bell, corporate VP of marketing for Microsoft. "It's a franchise that has grown an army of loyal fans both in arcades and on consoles worldwide, and is consistently rated extremely high by the media. Fighting game fans have been hungry for Virtua Fighter 5 and we can now proudly deliver this game with Sega to Xbox 360 gamers around the world."

errr...considering that Sony only makes money off of the games and loses $250+ on the systems right now, that isn't good news.

Tekken != Virtua Fighter

Sorry I had to

But yah, I was actually looking forward to VF5 to try it out on the PS3. The lack of online multi really ruined my hopes for this game though. If the 360 version has Online play on xbox live, its going to completely rip the ps3 version apart.

I like the controller and price tag on the Wii but I will wait a year or so and see what games are out then make my decision. Will get either a Wii or PS3. Leaning towards PS3 but the price needs to come down alot. But, I like playing the Jedi games so the Wii is tempting. My gf's little brother is getting a Wii so i'll play both the systems and decide which i like better. Oh and i'm no sony fanboy, the last system i got was Xbox and before that it was PS1.

The Neo Geo debuted nearly 17 years ago. $750 then is a hell of a lot more than $750 now. That'd come out to over $1000 in todays' dollars. People are bitching about paying $600 for the PS3 now, there's no wonder why the Neo Geo didn't do so well. I believe the games were pretty ridiculously priced as well.

I have been a big Nintendo fan my whole life, only had Nintendo b/c the games are fun and creative. The PC in worth more then a PS3 and xBox since you can get the games both of them have, upgrade components as you see fit and use it for much more then the xBox and PS3 can be used for (e-mail, IM, office, etc). So, why buy one of those units if a PC can perform better, do more and has the same titles.... go find Mario for PC. Roms only and they work like @$$ most of the time.

Basically, the PS3 failed in my opinion due to 2 main factors.

1) Price is INSANE. I don't have kids but if one of my kids wanted a $600 toy I would have to really consider that.

2) With the price behind us, what do I get... a DVD player with first person shooters... WOWIE! Graphics are important but all the games look the same to me.

GO Wii!!! Speaking of... I am going to play now!

1) The PS3 hasn't failed. Its been a little more than a month. I would wait a little longer before clumper it together with past systems that have flopped.

2) The price isn't nearly as insane as a lot of people are saying. Yes, it is high, but with inflation calculated in other systems have been more expensive in the past.

3) You are an idiot if you think the PS3 future library will onsist mostly of FPSs.

4) The PC is missing A LOT of games the Xbox360 and PS3 have. Also, many games on both of those consoles are released MUCH later on the PC. Actually, most of the prime PS3 games eventually coming out aren't on the PC, and other only come to the PC much later. (Btw, almost all of those titles aren't FPSs)

The only system I have currently out of the new three is a Wii, and I give the system high regard. However, your points that are supposed to prove the superiority of Nintendo's new system are flawed and, put plainly, retarded. Do more research and before you say something that winds up not being true.

i woulud have to say, i have been playing the ps3 now for about a week, so far i have played Resistance, Tony Hawk, Ridge Racer7, and Full Auto

only tony hawk was a huge dissapointment, but the other titles are pretty good, and look great in HD, and RR7 is really where the ps3 shines, fast load times, nice graphics, good music(if you like techno when racing) and and a SEEMless online feature even during single player. If they can get games to get close to this Ridge Racer formula, they are definitely looking at a winner.
The wi-fi for me is killer, and a definite plus. The only downside is this stupid blu-ray, shtty movies for like 25-30 dollars!??! what in the world!? No movie is worth that!!!

Overall I think it will take time, but the potential is DEFINITELY there. and i do hope it makes it so there is some competition between the ps3 and 360 cause without it, we wouldnt see good games. and yes on a side note- GoW is mostly just a nice looking game, nothing too terribly new. Most next gen games you can say that about EXCEPT the wii...and thats why its making headlines.

Check out netflix, they have BD movies there. Or if you are the type that must own, check walmart.com they have em for 18-25 bucks. I got a netflix for bluray movies and I plan on buying the good ones. Unfortunately they havent made thier way to Hawaii walmarts yet, so I don't have the option of buying yet, unless i want to spend the 25-35 bucks at bestbuy or something.

I was really close to getting a ps3 as I already have a 360 but I read on the internet 360 will receive the games I wanted for the ps3 (mgs4 and assasins creed) This doesn't mean I won't buy it, but more of a reason I shouldn't get it right now.

It's already known for a fact that MGS4 is coming out for the PS3 exclusively. It's really not a rumor, it's been officially announced for a long time.

Assassin's Creed is coming out for every system except Wii. That includes PC.

And yet the Wii is supposed to be the console that will have the most first person shooters, and the graphics aren't even good... you've gone and possibly made the least intelligent post in ATOT history.

Good reviews as a blu-ray player (just needs remote)
Roughly as good as Xbox360 for games (launch titles ports a little worse)

Once supply is there and a few more good games are out (including ports), I think enough people will choose it over the 360 that it will be at least a modest success.

I agree with this post. Some say that Microsoft delivers to its customers, but what about backwards compatability? The Xbox 360's backwards compatability sucks at best, and it lags; the emulation software is poorly designed, or there's some issue with the hardware that I'm unaware of.

Backwards compatibility is the most wanted feature that is the most under-used feature. When I was at Zero Hour I was actually talking to quite a few people about this (both from microsoft and third parties) and they were telling me how research showed that about 90% of people wanted backwards compatibility, but only 5% actually used it. These numbers were thrown around by quite a few companies.

And it makes sense. Who the hell gets an Xbox360 or PS3 to play last gen games? No one. Sure it can be a secondary benefit and a treat, but it's not one person is going to say "Oh know, screw that ... I'm not getting an Xbox360 because I cant play my xbox games on it. I'm going to get a PS3 because I can play my PS2 games on it".

I mean I realized the other day that my Wii can play gamecube games, and there are a few I'm going to get now that I missed out on and for damn cheap (Mario Kart DD and RE4), but that had nothing to do with me wanting to get the system at all. I couldn't care less if it didn't have BC.

Not to mention that when MS adds BC for a game, they put effort into making it look good on a big HDTV...as opposed to PS3 where the PS1/PS2 games look significantly worse than on the original console.

Halo 2 on the Xbox 360 looks fantastic...definitely better than it did on the original Xbox.

Halo plays like crap on the 360.

That, and it makes sense for backwards compatability to be a treat. Most features of a console are a treat. In fact, the Blu-Ray playback of the PS3 is going to be the first time that movie-playback is really one of the highlights of any console. I rarely used DVD playback on the PS2 and never use it on the 360, why would you use them when an upconverting DVD player is so much better and easier to use AND cheaper?

Obviously no one is going to buy a next gen console purely for last gen games, but it's important not to do what Microsoft did and promise full backwards compatability and then only finish patching a handful of games on a botched emulator.

All I ever read was 'MGS4 is a PS3 title'. That does not exclude anything. I've heard about this rumour for months and frankly I would not blame Konami one bit if they brought it out on both.

BTW, my main gripe with PS3 is the forced inclusion of Blu-Ray. I did buy HD-DVD for my 360 but that was a choice made well after buying the system itself.

Here you go.

Hah well I have no problem eating crow.

I will say that 'at this time' is still rather ambiguous and means the next week they could come out with a statement along the lines of 'The blah blah is a PS3 exclusive for a week'. I just don't think they would be in their right business mind to go PS3 exclusive unless hardware numbers increase significantly.

What you just said was stated countless times during the PS2 launch, yet it was the clear winner of its era. Consoles generally don't have a good launch. The 360 didn't have a good launch, either.
