I thought Troy and Cabinboy were both fairly entertaining. i mean, cabinboy has a giant floating cupcake that spits tobacco... come on!
Oooh yea .. Cabin Boy was indeed funny! Troy wasn't good ... but certainly not "worst of the worst 50 movies" type bad ....
Troy was good. I got it for a sweet deal on HD-DVD and the battle scenes look fantastic, and the acting was decent for an epic war type movie. Certainly not any worse than 300 or Kingdom of Heaven (I liked those also).
300 had one hell of a story to work with .... Pretty much the story about the bravest soldiers in the history of the world, but told in a tall tale way to make them out to be ever braver than they really were. I really enjoyed 300, it was like watching a great tall tale on the screen.
Troy was not nearly as well written, nor was it as well directed IMO. They tried to go for the epic look and feel, but it just didn't quite cut it. Maybe I underrated it as I've only watched it once and judged harshly. Perhaps it deserves a second watching. But what I would say, from watching it just once, is that it had the action, it had good actors, but it didn't add up to what I would consider good in my own opinion... Maybe just, it wasn't nearly as good as it could have been.....
