I'm seeing DMB this summer and I hope it is awesome. I'm not a HUGE fan, but I do like their music a lot...

I saw Kiss during their late 90's tour for nostalgia's sake. Kiss wasn't so bad (except for Peter Criss's Beth - his voice just could hit the notes), but Nugent was the opening act and was pretty awful.

Clapton. he had a cold and the venue sucks ass. Do not go to a concert in Air Canada Centre! It is not acoustically designed, it's a hockey rink/basketball court.

#1, his cold may of made his voice sound shitty, but nothing gets in the way of Clapton and his guitar -- not even heroin. And the guitar is enough to make it a show.

#2, if it's the venue that made him sound like shit, why are you blaming it on Clapton?

Worst concert, not worst performer...I love Clapton, just saying the concert was a huge letdown.

Interestingly enough, that show at Texas Stadium was awesome. I liked Guns more than Metallica, but both were good.

And to wit, the opening act Faith No More was horrible terrible bad! The singer was deep-throating the microphone, and too drunk/stoned to really sing.

Now the only show I've ever left early was Great White. We started booing/hissing and giving them the thumbs down, and we left half way through their set.

I don't see how a 2 minute solo from slash can ever be classified as "terrible"

perhaps you're listening to the wrong band? May I recommend weezer, or foo fighters?

Lauryn Hill was one of the opening acts for the Smokin Grooves tour a while back. Now back during the Miseducation days I saw her with Outkast and it was a really good show. At Smokin Grooves she was probably the first act to go on and it was just her and a guitar. Didn't do any old songs, somehow she forgot how to sing. It was horrible.

Grateful Dead, it wasn't that they played bad, it was that the average age of the audience was 14. I never figured that out, wtf does a 14 year old know from the Dead. Anyways, management was going to close all the bars because of the kids. So, I rounded up 6 adults (about all I could see) and we told the shirts they'd never get out alive if they closed all the bars. They left one open to drown our sorrows.

After an utterly awesome performance by Muse, Yeah Yeah Yeah's came on stage and just fucked everything up. We left after the 3rd song.. couldn't handle the lead singer's screaming voice. They suck live.

Saw Muse at Festival Peer in philly and it was one of the best live shows I have ever seen. Its a shame your show was bad.

Worst I saw was H.I.M at Projekt Revolution

The Mars Volta, opened for System of a Down

My god... it was like fingernails on a chalkboard for 30min. straight.
You couldn't hear any lyrics and you couldn't tell when one song ended and the next started.
Just weird whirling screeching sounds for 30min.

Then System of a Down opened up with Sugar, and we rocked out!

Mars Volta, for the regular person, is probably best experienced through studio albums. There are so many instruments in their band, and when mixed with horrible acoustics, I could easily imagine it just meshing together and sounding like audio garbage. Very few places have great acoustics in all actuality, due to them being multi purpose venues. I want to see them perform at a small concert hall, Detroit has a very good one.. it's small, but rock shows sound pretty good as long as the band doesn't suck.
But yea, there music is really good when mixed together right, but it's just so hectic. I want to see them live, just so I can confirm if they are indeed terrible live. I've had people tell me there are an amazing band to see live, and others have told me they sound like trash live.

also, not all of their albums I can take a liking too. De-Loused in the Comatorium is my favorite studio album of theirs, with Frances the Mute close behind. Amputechture was horrid imho, but it sounds like their new album dropping at the end of this month will be pretty damned good. We'll see if it can even hold a candle to De-Loused'.

Saw them when touring with saul williams (comatorium era)

3.5hr orgasm of backpain.

Everysong becomes 20min, they're just a jamband live. It was awesome b/c at the time I loved them, but all you can really do is stand while they played...and it went on forevvvver. Can't stand them now though, but we've had this discussion before.

I've seen 100's of shows, so it's difficult to

a.) remember them
b.) remember a bad one

However, one stands out. It was some random band from NY opening for rocket from the crypt...probably 5+yrs ago. The singer was anorexic/coke addict clad in tight leather...

They basically turned the volume knobs on everything ALL the way up and blasted everybody's eardrums with their distortion/noise. My ears were ringing for 3-4 days...rediculous.

Having seen them open up for RHCP, I can say attest to the worthlessness of their live show. They gotta tone that shit down. It's a tossup between worst opening act EVER for RHCP, mars volta or the flaming lips

cedric/omar were better as at the drive in

at least they played with a lot more energy and songs ended.

an example (actually one of last concerts before they broke up and eventually split into sparta/mars volta)
