People are confusing "Worst game ever" with "I didn't enjoy the game". If you think SC2 and Farcry, Dragons age are the worst games ever, you need to stick to solitaire and take what ever is in your behind, out.

Probably because 'worst game ever' is tough to answer as generally the really bad games you don't play in the first place because everyone tells you they are bad.

Whereas 'game I really didn't like when I thought it would be good' or 'most over-rated game ever' is much easier to answer.

In which spirit, I really hated the first Max Payne. It got bafflingly good reviews when it was no fun at all, just a frustrating exercise in quick-save, (die-quick-load)-repeatx100, quick-save,... Bullet time was just the same process only in slow-motion. No matter how carefully you played the bad guys would hit you instantly and dish out as much damage to you as you did to them, unless you got lucky. Even if you blasted them point blank with a shotgun they'd still recover almost instantly and do as much damage to you. Really annoying.

The diametric opposite of Serious Sam style play, that is, game play that _flows_ and where there's a sense of exercising skill rather than just retrying each little section over-and-over till you got lucky.

On top of that the writing was unbelievably terrible. Just appalling No game with a line like 'the sun set with practised bravado' can ever be a good game.

Oddly, Max Payne 2 was massively better. Lots of little changes seemed to make for far less frustrating gameplay, the hero didn't look constipated any more and even the writing was far better, even had some humor in it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is funny that all the things you stated that you hated about Max Payne, are the reasons that I loved the game. I don't like games where the enemies do less damage than you do, or getting dhot is no big deal. I liked the fact that you were on equal footing (although they had you outnumbered). I

don't think I ever used Quick Save in the game though. I was able to get through most of the levels without dying, I just went through slowly and methodically. I also prefer that style of game, and those that keep you on edge because you can die at any time.

Moo3 was pretty bad in that it didn't grab the player at all. I felt no need to keep playing, unlike Moo and Moo2.

The worst games are......
Mercenaries 2 - piece of crap. Nothing worked right, with tons of play killing bugs.
Empire Earth 3 - buggy as hell, but had serious potential.

This thread seems filled with people that just suck at games.

Why is no one really attacking games made from movies or force franchise revamps?

Are these games so bad that they are not worth mentioning?

Some of those who have commented say that some of the most commercially successful games are the ones you think are the worst.

IMO worst game does not equate to least favorite.

The worst game I played was Darkstar One. A semi free roaming space game that resembled loosely the old Wing Commander: Privateer games. You play some douche bag in a green ship seeking to uncover the truth about the death of his fat ass father while fighting aliens greedy humans, and collection green pieces of crap called Artifacts that would upgrade your ship. This game turned a free roaming sandbox into a linear crap fest.

Worst game ever.

I'm pretty sure someone mentioned E.T. That's one of the only movie games I've owned and it was indeed god awful.

I confess to having played Big Rigs for a couple of hours, mainly to see if it was as bad as everyone said it was.

It was.

The Blade Runner point'n'click adventure was pretty good, as were Alien Vs Predator and Alien Vs Predator 2 (and as a bonus, the AvP movies - as opposed to just the Alien and Predator movies - came out after the games and were terrible). And "The Thing" game was OKish I think.

OK, I can't think of any other exceptions. I guess the rule is they are only good if they come out many years after the movie they were based on.

All games that go into production at the same time as the movie they are based on are terrible, i guess that's the rule.

RE4 - sucked
C&C Generals - massive dissapointment
Farcry 2 - sucked
Supcom 2 - massive dissapointment
Any sports game ive recieved as a gift - cant kill anything
Any driving game ive recieved as a gift - also cant kill anything, destruction derby on the PS1 was the only exception, that was a fun game

Pretty tough thinking up non recent stuff as i dont remember bad games all that much.
