People are confusing "Worst game ever" with "I didn't enjoy the game". If you think SC2 and Farcry, Dragons age are the worst games ever, you need to stick to solitaire and take what ever is in your behind, out.
Probably because 'worst game ever' is tough to answer as generally the really bad games you don't play in the first place because everyone tells you they are bad.
Whereas 'game I really didn't like when I thought it would be good' or 'most over-rated game ever' is much easier to answer.
In which spirit, I really hated the first Max Payne. It got bafflingly good reviews when it was no fun at all, just a frustrating exercise in quick-save, (die-quick-load)-repeatx100, quick-save,... Bullet time was just the same process only in slow-motion. No matter how carefully you played the bad guys would hit you instantly and dish out as much damage to you as you did to them, unless you got lucky. Even if you blasted them point blank with a shotgun they'd still recover almost instantly and do as much damage to you. Really annoying.
The diametric opposite of Serious Sam style play, that is, game play that _flows_ and where there's a sense of exercising skill rather than just retrying each little section over-and-over till you got lucky.
On top of that the writing was unbelievably terrible. Just appalling No game with a line like 'the sun set with practised bravado' can ever be a good game.
Oddly, Max Payne 2 was massively better. Lots of little changes seemed to make for far less frustrating gameplay, the hero didn't look constipated any more and even the writing was far better, even had some humor in it.
