My non-contraversial picks:

Heaven's Gate because it was spectacularly dull and impossible to follow because you can't hear the dialogue.

Attack of the Clones because the script was laughable and the acting would've gotten the two leads fired from any dinner theatre in the country.

I picked these two because they were very expensive major dramatic efforts that failed for inexcusable, obvious reasons. I don't consider stuff like Night of the Lepus or Manos: The Hands of Fate because they were potboilers that were never really intended to be good films anyway.

Took my wife and we almost fell asleep. I have never moved around so much in a movie.

I'm assuming noone has said "The New World" yet because you were all too smart to see it. I was back east for a funeral and didn't want to change to their time zone. It was the only move on at 10:15 on a Thursday night.

In retrospect, I should have hit myself in the groin for 3 hours.

The worst movie I recall paying for was the Tim Burton remake of "Planet of the Apes," followed in no particular order by "Perfect" and "Attack of the Clones."

I liked that movie. Terrence Malick is an acquired taste, though.

There was nothing "cheesy" or "popcorn" about A History of Violence.

Sorry.

I saw League of Extraordinary Gentleman in theaters.

I liked History of Violence though. I'm surprised to hear so many bad reviews of it here.

Oh if you have seen and reviewed any of ewe boll's movies ( Bloodrayne, Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, and the soon to be Postal and Far Cry movies ), apparently you can fight him:

Fight Uwe Boll: Games-to-film helmer to take on his critics in the ring.

Seems like he's already got lowtax from SA on the list.

Can this guy even make a semi decent movie? I'm not really familiar with him, but I will say that I have a friend who mentioned blood rayne was quite possibly the worst movie he's ever seen. And just yesterday I was flipping through the channels and watched a random 15 minutes of House of the Dead and it was TERRIBLE.

Until just recently (like 2 months ago) there was a German tax clause that allowed failed business ventures to get money back from the government. I forget exactly how it went, but basically his investors wanted him to make the worst movies possible, and they would rake in big profits from the loophole.

And for the first time I get to use this in a serious response:

Phase 1 - invest millions into project doomed to failure
phase 2 -
phase 3 - profit!

(don't hate me)

I've read the Director's Cut is much, much better.

I'm gonna have to say it was Anchorman. That movie really sucked. I walked out on it with my g/f at the time.

I liked Doom, but I only paid $3.99 with my Directv All Day Ticket. I probably would have been much more disappointed if I had seen it at a theatre.

The sad thing is, it would have been so much better if Spielberg had ended it at the blue fairy scene, and let the watchers cope with the fact that not every movie has to be wrapped up into a happy little package at the end. But he just had to go and tack on the stupid aliens and ruin it
