K6-2 500 that won't even boot at 525MHz, and they scale very poorly when successfully overclocked.

a lot of people here are listing things that have no OCing ability. this is different than one that doesnt OC well.
however, my worst OCing CPU was a thunderbird core athlon 1333. wouldnt do any above 1410, even with a vcore of 2.05. (unlocked multi, highest it would do was 133*10.5)
and this was on a mobo that would boot at fsb180, so it wasnt that. pretty damn good for a mobo that doesnt have agp/pci lock. however, the booting at 180 was just into memtest (with ddr2100 RAM, micron makes good stuff)

That sucks man, my old K6-2 450 Chomper core would post reliably at 525mhz, 105*5, however I figured a higher FSB would give me an all round better system so I always ran it at 110*4.5, although it did give me slightly higher figures at 105*5 in Sandra CPU tests, I stuck with 495mhz. Meh, screw it.

I don't even use that system anymore. Should get it out some time again though, what a beast 512Mb of PC133, Geforce2 Ultra.. hehe

The worst cpu of all time ever is AMD K6-2 300 MHz. It´s barely stable at 300 MHz. Also, the cyrix and older amd cpu was very very slow.

I killed a Cyrix 120MHz when I o/ced it to 133MHz ,lasted about 5mins! ,it was my fathers PC too

I had a K6-2 350 @400 no probs for 1 yr (CXT core) ,I did have it at 420Mhz for a while but after a few months it refused to run at that!

My XP1500 Palomino ran at 1.58GHz (~+19%) ,XP1600 Pal AGOIA(?,the 'good' stepping)@~1.8GHz (~+12%)

I think my worst overclock (in terms of what I was expecting & what I actually got) is my XPM 2400 I got the other day!
Bearing in mind that XPMs are supposed to rock when it comes to overclocking on sckt A this 1 sucks big time!, can't get it stable on my rig beyond 2.13GHz:disgust: ,even my friends NF7S can't get it stable at 2.2GHz.At least not upto 1.75v.What makes it worse is that its slower than my XP2400 @2.22GHz.
I was hoping for at least mid 2300s btw,I guess its still not terrible though at nearly a 20% o/c

Its going & I'm awaiting an XPM 2500

The chip is not a "bad chip" if it runs at advertised speed.

486 DX2-50 @ 50
P133 @ 133
Celeron 300 @ 375 - this cpu was stable at 450 for a while, but then started crashing - still running
Celeron 566 @ 708 - still running, never would hit 850
Athlon 1.4 @ 1.6 - put out a ton of heat, still running, now underclocked to 1.0
Athlon XP 1600+ @ 1800 - still running
Athlon 64 3000+ @ 2400 - my current system, not completely stable, not sure if its the memory or just too much heat

This thread is about overclocking, hes said its a bad OCer, its implied. If you seriously cant tell that, stop living.

Chill dude! ,whilst I agree with ya there's no need to kick off like that.

Yes it is a bad chip ,incase you mis-read the thread title this is about cpus that overclock poorly ,if it doesn't overclock well its a bad chip (relatively)

Any of my tbird chips!!!! I usually got no more then 10%...then I went to the 1.8a that did 2.52ghz...1.6a that did 2.73ghz...another 1.8a that did 2.61ghz....2.4b that did 3.24ghz....2.6c that did 3.25ghz...finally a 2.4c that does 3.4ghz at default and 3.5ghz max.....

My wife's 2100+ xp does near 2800+ speeds though and that is nice if I needed it...

That is pretty average. Anything over that is a good o/c ing chip

My Athlon XP1800+ Palomino wouldn't go more than a 136-137 FSB (default at 133). The best I could get was 1850+ speeds. I said screw it and went back to undervolting at stock speeds after that.
