The graph deliberately exaggerated the difference between the numbers (which *may* have been correct or close to it - whether they actually were or not is irrelevant to the argument).

Yes correctly reading a graph is an art and not many can actually read a graph and understand what is being said. There was no exaggeration in the numbers I guess only you did not like how nvidia visually looked small. But when shown a nv chart showing ati looking disportionately small you had no comment.

How is this any different?

This new ATI graphics card is much nicer than the nVidia card. It has a lead of 100 readerrabbaflops over nVidia's 3. Even though readerrabbaflops are little used in modern benchmarking the advantage is clearly ATI.

HEXUS has learnt the names of many of the ATi and NVIDIA personnel involved, but as ATi people eventually backed down from one of the fiery little NVIDIA aggressors, or perhaps decided that discretion was the better part of valour before fists were thrown, we're presently thinking we'll keep schtum.

What am I babbling about? in the 18 months ATi could clearly claim leadership in DX9 there were hardly any DX9 games released save (hL2 right at the tailend and BribeMark03 and they cost ATi well over 5 million to get out there). Everything else with DX9 content (not much - some halo effects and TR:AOD) came from developers in the TWIMTBP program. Developers (mostly) ignored ATi totally (just like with truform etc in the past). Developers don't ignore nVIDIA...

I believe you went on a tangent that went a little too far. You see things in one-perspective. Even now many developers fail to support many of the features a video card has to offer. The 6800 arrived in 2004, and only now have DX9 games come out in any such noticeable quantity. The PC gaming industry has been stagnant ever since from publishers and developers alike moving exclusively to consoles . Developers ignore PC gamers -- not the video card.
