I had an old Trident card, don't remember the model (who cares) with a whole 2 megs of ram. The whole 2 megs came from a 1 meg upgrade.

Jaton forgot the model number (Trident 975 pci) - the rca tv-out is bad, output b&w, Jaton can't answer what's wrong with it.

Elsa Gladiac MX (Geforce2 MX) - system always freezes when scrolling in ie or netscape, or running the nvidia pond small demo, or suddenly freezes. this happens not only in my duron/via system, it even happens in my another celeron/intel system.

The worst video card I ever owned was the DIAMOND EDGE (yeah, I actually owned one of those pieces of $hit). It was nVidia's first graphics chip, I believe. This was the first 3D card (LOL!) that was just horrible. It came with 3 games that were console ports from the SEGA Saturn. Luckily, I returned it and got a Matrox Millennium.

Another vote for Diamond Edge 3d. This puppy retailed for around $600 new.
Paid $50 on e8ay, then sold it to another sucker for $50.

looks like Compellor has been following by upgrade path pretty closely, except my audio card company is still is biz

I don't know where you guys were shopping, but I preordered an Edge 3d 3000 (the better VRAM model) for like $220 before it every came out! Luckily I knew the owner of the shop and he pushed me away from it. Heh, that card really did blow though. Builtin video and sound on one board. It didn't even accelerate Direct3d which was still in 2.0 at the time.

Robs TV:

How are those 6.47 beta drivers? Any bugs?

Yeah, it's time for me to ditch the old MX300 for a SBLive. I had a MX80/SB 16 combo (remember those glorious DOS games?) prior to MX300. I did have a Canopus Spectra 2500 TNT (sweet video card) before I got the Visiontek GeForce 2 GTS. I had my old Diamond Monster Voodoo card running into the Spectra (nice combo 2 years ago!). The Voodoo card is currently collecting dust.

I dunno. Virge was impressive when it first came out in 95-96 (Bilinear filtering Descent). The worst card I have ever owned was an onboard Cirrus Logic CL-GD5428 1MB. Next worst was 2MB Trident 9440.

Omg...I have to agree Diamond Edge 3D was pure crap. It tried to entice people to buy it by porting some Sega Saturn games on it..(Virtua Fighter?)

Stealth1024:

Matrox made Mystic and Millenium cards with WRAM. It was pretty fast at the time but the texture quality was ugly.

Compellor:

I loved cards by Canopus..they were the best! I had a Canopus Pure3D and Spectra 2500. Both were great cards that had tons of features and good performance. My Pure3d wipe the floor with other Voodoo 1 cards. Too bad Canopus went out of the consumer video card business...

This is a silly question. Why? Because people are automatically listing an old card as the "worst" video card they ever owned. Naturally, cards from way back when will look pale in comparison to today's cards. It is like asking the question: what is the worst CPU you ever owned? My answer would be the CPU used in the Tandy Color Computer from way back when.

To make their answers valid, they should compare their cards to what was available at the time they purchased that worst card.

For me, the Neon 250 is the worst card I ever owned. Poor drivers. Not very fast. The works. At the time I bought the Neon 250, the following cards were available (i.e. were released to the market at MOST one year before): G400/MAX, TNT2 Ultras, Voodoo3s, GeForce256, Rage 128GL/Pro, Rage MAXX, and the Savage2000.

I owned the Rage 128GL, G400MAX, 2 TNT2 Ultras, Voodoo3 2000, and GeForce256 SDR at the time I bought the Neon 250. So I know that the Neon 250 stunk in comparison. It works so it was not terribly pathetic. I'm just saying as a comparison to the others, it is not very good. Therefore, it was the worst card I ever owned.
