i have to agree with rleemhui - especially with the memory and CPU. Hell, a winchester 3500+ can hit FX-55 performance levels EASILY, especially with the overclocking memory you're looking at, and would save you like $500. 1GB of memory is fine, too, and it's not worth the penalties for 2GB right now. You either have to grab high-latency 1GB sticks, for a lot of money (Most 1GB sticks are CL3), or you have to get 4 512MB sticks, but then the memory runs at DDR333 with 2T timings, which is even worse. I'm densities and latencies will get better in the future, though, so i'd just grab 1GB, sell it in a year to a friend, and grab 2GB. The Video card is your call, but i'd be inclined to spend $175 less for 95% of the performance, with a 6800GT or X800XL (hell, X800XL is supposed to be $300, although i doubt it'll be that cheap for a while). The raptors are nice, but i personally like the Seagate 7200.8s or Maxtor Diamondmax 10's, with their 16MB buffers and large capacities - they are fast as hell, but way bigger than raptors.
In short, unless $3000 means nothing to you, or you REALLY need to have bragging rights, buying top-of-the-line equipment is simply not worth it. Paying double for an extra 10% performance makes no sense, especially when you could just upgrade twice as often instead, or overclock to get better performance than high-end equipment (for example, my CPU can hit 2.6GHz easily, and as soon as i exchange my memory for some better Crucial Ballistix, i'll be taking it there, effectively getting FX performance for $155).
