Worth a memory upgrade?

I just bought a Compaq Presario 2700T notebook with 2 64MB SDRAM for 128 total memory. I was thinking of getting 256MB PC133 SODIMM from Crucial but is it worth it to make it 320MB. The system runs fine with a couple of programs running in the taskbar and XP pro. and Quake III is fine too. Is it worth the upgrade? The only other program I need to get for it is Norton Internet Security with virus protection.

If with 128MB of memory you feel it's decent and "gets the job done", then I don't see a reason to dump more memory into it if it isn't going to improve your particular usage of it.

Then again, you are running XP, so unless you plan to do more with it, I think 128MB is adequate for running just one small app/game or "email"/web browsing.

I felt a difference when I went to 256 from 128 megs of ram. A BIG difference. Windows XP is a resource hog. If you can get some more memory I would def. go for it. More memory can never hurt.

dont know what u do on ur lappy, but i a/v edit dvd divx avis frequently and do crap and i highly recommend at least 384 for xp systems.. im idling at 540mb right now.. editing some anime..

You can kill off the Norton Antivirus protection, by the way, it's a huge CPU hog - they really did a bad job at optimizing that piece of soft.

320 MB is very nice, especially for Windows XP.
