Worth going from 980GTX to 980GTX Ti with 2600k CPU?

My 2600k is running at 4.5ghz
16gb of RAM
Samsung 1TB 850 Pro
Resolution = 2560 x 1600

I like to play all my games natively. I could sell my 980 and 780Ti and jump to a 980 ti but would it actually give me a good bump or am I going to be CPU limited?

You will GPU limited at that resolution.

2600K at 4.5Ghz is no slouch. Equivalent to Haswell i7 at 4Ghz.

I personally don't think a 30% jump in performance is worth it. Just overclock the 980

I would sell your 780ti immediately if it isn't being used, all it is doing is losing value.

980Ti is just 2 FPS less in every game than the Titan X at fraction of the price so yes it is a great upgrade for you. You can run those games at 1440P resolution no problem

well OC v OC still ~30% since both OC good.

Honestly if I had a 980 I would probably wait til next-gen 14/16nm, especially on a non 4K resolution.

He will need a new system for next gen gpu's. I fully expect both AMD and Nvidia new cards to be at least 50% faster in 2016/17, His cpu will bottleneck that level of performance.

Not really. First there is nothing on horizon to beat Haswell by more than 10-15% if Skylake leaks are to be believed. And second - i am certain that developers will target CPU intensive games for DX12, so OP will be just fine with his 4.5 Sandy.

I read that DX12 supports stacking but is that going to requite ATI/nVidia to have new architectures?

By the time all that DX12 stuff really starts being used, we will be 2 full GPU generations down the road from here. DX12 is years away, not even months.

Your CPU is 100% okay. It will not be an issue.

At that resolution, I think I would sell the 980 while the prices are still high. They are still going for 400 and up on eBay, this is used.
After selling it, the difference isn't much. You should list your 980 straight away, if you are gonna sell it.

Also, listing your 780ti.....
The whole 980ti is paid for.

U could list them lower than the rest, just for a couple days. Most people wait till the last day even if you list it as a buy now.
