So I have a blackberry and i really want to get rid of it. I am up for an upgrade and I could get an Iphone 4 for $50 at a friends verizon retailer store (so getting it is no problem) as part of their black friday deal. I have a $50 rebate card so ill be getting the phone for free. Now is it worth it to even get it? Saw the specs of the 4s vs the 4 and they are basically the same. I dont mind a lower pixel camera and I dont really care for SIRI. My biggest reason for jumping on the deal is because I will be potentially getting it for free (vs paying $150 for the 4s). I think itt's time to move on from my blackberry. Should I just go ahead and bite or wait it out for the iphone 5?

I recently went from a 4G ThunderBolt to an iP4 I bought on eBay, the Verizon variant of the iP4 is a great phone, highly recommended, particularly for free.

I'd say go for it if your mind is set on iPhone. 4S doesn't seem a lot different from 4 if you don't game, or use voice control. Even the camera seems relatively the same, unless you absolutely must squeeze every extra bright pixel from your phone... but you'll lose more storage space in the process, so the trade-off is not worth it in my opinions.

If you plan on keeping it for the two years of your contract, I'd say go ahead and get the 4S. You're probably going to start seeing some 4S-optimized games because of the graphics chip and you never know what features Apple might throw in to iOS 6 that might be 4S+ exclusive.

If, however, you think you'll try to sell it in a year and get a get a 5, then less cash up front might be a good thing. That would be the only reason I'd recommend getting a 4 at this point.

I think saving $100 (and losing 8gb space and upgraded internals) isn't a good trade off. I'm not a big picture taker on phones, and I don't use Siri much either, but that extra $100 is well spent for the dual-core chip and GPU alone.

Maybe I don't understand the question:

Should you get an iPhone 4 for free now, sell it later and buy the iPhone 5 when it comes out vs. stick with your Blackberry until whenever the iPhone 5 comes out and pay for the iPhone 5 then?

Is that the question?

I got a 4 instead of a 4S. It was cheap and I don't regret my decision. If I really want the horsepower I use my iPad, and I guess I'm not a power use outside of home.

Just get the iPhone 4 if your set on an iPhone. Still a great phone. But if you plan on using it all 2 years of your contract, I'd probably bite the bullet and get the 4s

no,why pay that much for a 3g phone ?

If he's struggling trying to decide between a 4 or a 4s because he doesn't think he'd use it that much, do you really think he's likely to care about 4G speeds.

And, just speaking for myself, I'd take the 4 over any 4G Android device in Verizon's lineup in a heartbeat. Of course, that's just because I think the phones don't look good and I don't think the OS is still as fluid as iOS. Just my opinion, of course...

8GB iPhone 4 for free vs 16GB iPhone 4S for $150?

To me, no question, get the 4S although I would say it depends on how you use your phone.

On my iPhone 4, iOS 5 takes up 3.5GB, leaving only 4.5 free on a 8GB model. Add faster processor, better camera and improved antenna design plus much better resale value, I just don't see a case for going with a 4.

decided to take make the jump and go for the iphone 4 instead of the 4s. I ended up getting the 16gb iphone 4 for only $50 with the deal they were having at their verizon store. With a $50 rebate card i got it essentially for free.

With my decision, i could not be any more HAPPIER. I love the iphone 4. Being a long time apple fan, I was used to the interface so it was not change at all for me. The biggest reason why I decided to move from bb to the iphone is the apps. No other phone compares to the amount of app support apple has. I dont really game on handhelds, so I could not justify spending $150 for an iphone 4s (that is essentially the same thing as the 4). As long as software updates doesnt stop supporting the hardware of the 4, I'll be happy. My biggest gripe is the battery life. How do iphone users survive throughout the day into the night?! By 6pm I'm already at 30-40% (and this is with me doing everything possible to save energy i.e. turn off wifi, bluetooth, etc)! I hate the fact that I have to carry around my charger and charge it whenever I get a chance.

I've had a 16GB iPhone 4 since the first month and have been happy with it all along. My battery lasts quite a long time. Sometimes I go for 2-3 days between charges, but I do have a Bold 9900 that I use for most of my calls and what not during the day, so it's not like I'm taxing the battery a lot.

1-2 days?! Do you not use the phone at all? I casually surf the web during my commute; but i text constantly and phone calls occassionally. Like I said before, by the time im out of work at 6PM, its at 30-40%. :/
