Worth upgrading?

Morning folks, I'm here today because the itch to upgrade is being very strong right now.

I'm running a 2600k @ 4.5
16gig ram
P8P67LE
GTX980ti
1x120SSD
1x500HDD

Right now, I'm running a single monitor (this one) https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01F6V6SSK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (the 21.5 inch version)

I'm mostly gaming, by mostly I mean 95% gaming and 5% internet browsing.

My build allow me to run games like Ghost Recon Wildlands at ultra with 50-60 fps which is enough for me.

My question is; is it worth upgrading? I know spending like 700$ for a mobo/cpu/ram for 5 fps is not worth it, but in the longer run? (I'm saying 700$ because here in Canada, everything is overpriced)

If i were you, i'd invest in an actual gaming monitor (and larger). That HP 21.5" model you have is the smaller version of my secondary 27" one and it's terrible for gaming. Bad input lag and ghosting (7ms).

Rather than waste your money on a full computer upgrade for a few more FPS, why not get a nicer monitor first?

Well, I paid 100$ for it new and shipped.

Since I don't play my games on a professional level, I don't see the point of paying 200-400$ for a monitor.

Care to explain why it's bad? (Sorry if this sounded rude, I'm just curious to know what ghosting/input lag does for the average player using a controller on most games)

You'll notice it most in first person gaming or fast paced games. 7ms for the monitor response time is very slow that can cause ghosting. Also input lag is how fast the monitor can input a response from the computer/gpu. Gaming monitor's have a 1-2ms pixel response time and very low input lag.

If you play any fast paced games such as COD, Titanfall, Battlefield, or other first person shooter games it's noticable. If you play games like League of Legends you probably wouldn't even notice it.

I don't really play any FPS, except for Destiny 2 when it will be out.

But you did scare me and checked review/info on 1-2ms vs 7ms and up and according to a huge portion of the people, until I am a hardcore fps player, there's no difference under the 8ms mark.

A good monitor will last you 10 years or even more, so it's worth spending extra on one. I would recommend getting a 27" 1440p display to replace your current setup, you will be much happier.

I concur with daveybrat. I'm not a gamer but, while a faster CPU or GPU will make a difference, you may or may not even notice much. On the other hand, an improved monitor, especially one that's larger, will be an appreciable change that's literally in your face.
